SLO KT66 JJ 6L6GC

For my SLO I'd like to try some KT66's.

Right now, I have JJ 6L6GC's in it and that's the only reference I have.

I've been reading as much as possible but there doesn't seem to be a general concensus on what is "the best" modern KT66.

I'm leaning towards the Gold Lions, don't ask me why, just a gut feeling.

Musicstyle is mostly rock/classic rock, humbuckers and P90's in dark-sounding guitars, semi-open back 2x12's with G1265's, G12H100's and Classic Leads.

Is there anyone out there that has hands-on experience with this ? What can I expect tonewise ?

I have one with GL KT66s and what I found was a more open, articulate sound. The bass is not as tight, but it is bigger and lush. Cleans are amazing, and dirt sounds as well. I think it would work well with your style.

I had the GT reissue kt66s in mine. I'm running a ported port city 412 though and it was way too much tight bass so I put in the JJ 6l6s again.

GT KT66s, Gold Lion KT66, the penta is supposed to be good too.
