I have no doubt that all 4 reviews are from the same dufas. Review 1 and 2 are from MGW and Matt W. 3 and 4 are from David and George, but both play a Gibson Les Paul historical '59, Fender custom shop strat. All of them reference XTC-Classic vs XTC Classic. I very rarely see anyone reference it with the hyphen. Obviously, whomever it is has personal issues with Bogner.

2008 XTC-Classic the amp has many features, great foot pedal three channels, black tolex EL-34 power tubes, every option that you can get in an XTC-Classic http://www.bogneramps.com

Sound Quality : 1
I'm using a Les paul & Strats through the XTC, Tom homes & Fralin pups. My style of music is hard rock & country with some blues. I wanted a versatile amp, one that I can take to a gig or studio and not worry. I've had it now for one year and I have to say, it has been the biggist let down! The tones are BAD? I've been playing for 35yrs and this is "JUNK!" take a look inside, crap-PCB lay out, compromised components! "WHAT ARE YOU DOING BOGNER" as long as Hype is out there, dumb people will buy?????

Reliability : 1
The transformer blew and Bogner replaced it, then it had a noise that even Bogner could not get out to this day! They were the ones who fixed it? The XTC-Classic "Over Heats?" I purchase the Bogner 4x12 & XTC together, I've done nothing other than plug it into a wall socket and turn it on! There is a defect in the design and Bogner wants people to think that people who have problems with there amps "Are Crazy?" to complain???

Customer Support : 1
Rhinehold & Yorg are awlful! They talk tou you, but you can sense they just want to say what they think you want to hear? "PLEASE", I have beg them, pleaded with them to "PLEASE" just fix my "BRAND-NEW"
Bogner XTC-Classic, and they have given me the "Run-Around" one excuse after another?

God please help me, all I wanted was a great amp after saving for this to happen. People lie to them selves, and keep up with the "Look I have the best there is" if this is true, how much worst can it get? People "Justify" and want to put the blaim on anyone that don't follow there opinion, and even through in the "If Bogner was so bad how do they stay in business?" from "STUPIT PEOPLE!"
that's how!!!! I wish you can see the hundreds of people that complain, that Bogner tries so hard to "COVER-UP!" Sorry Shawn, I've know you for many years, but I had to say the truth!

The XTC Classic was built in 2005, it has three channels, foot switch
120w EL34 etc. I have used this amp for Live & Studio work. It has a number of options, with the metal grill.

Sound Quality : 4
I'm using my Fender Strat (modified) with Duncans humbuckers, Basswood Body, set-in maple neck, maple top. My style goes from Jazz to Blues and Rock. Ch.1 is a good clean but not great? I wish it had the tone of the "Shiva"~! It's good but not full-bodied as you would think for an amplifier in this price range, I am dissapointed, so I have to just live with it? Ch.2 is a good all around area, I like the Plexi better than everything else about the amp but it doesn't sound near as good as a Marshall Plexi! I don't want to compare, but amps refered as to Plexi-like will have to be compared one way or another. Ch.3 what can I say that others haven't? it's by far not the best tone the amps has! I could try to convince myself that it's good? or I could say "to each his own" regarding tone, but after playing so many amps over the years, and I like Marshall's to Fender's to Soldano's and so on. I tried my friends Bogner Shiva and I'll tell you it just "Blew away the XTC-Classic" so much better tone and feel, more "organic" open, wonderful clean to aggressive with feeling distortion.

Reliability : 3
The Transformer blew about two weeks after I purchased the amp. I was running it through the Bogner Over-sized 2x12. I have noticed the the Vinyl tolex is bubbling on the top of the amp, I believe from the heat? there's not much that I can do and Bogner doesn't want to comply on any repairs to the Tolex? as they don't build there cabinets.

Customer Support : 9
Mark Chameron at Bogner is the most helpful person they have! Not only does he know electronics but he will give you idea's to improve your amp? Why talk to a person that doesn't know electronics, when it's regarding your amp, He is the best!

Overall Rating : 5
The XTC Classic is a good amp! I was sold on hype!!! I wish it had that something special, but it didn't. If you have the ability to play many amplifiers you'll know what I mean! If your new to tone & touch sensitivity, you won't know that special something that rare amps will posses. Steve Vai, George Lynch, Eric Johnson and many others that are regarded as "tone worshipers" look the world over, and "yes" they have played the XTC's but then looked in other directions. I have played for over 30yrs and about every amp out there, in about every situation and I really wish the XTC had that something. I feel the construction is not bad but there are better. I could try to justify the purchase and sit back and think I have the world's greatist amp, but I don't! I have tried tubes, speakers, speaker cabinets, cords, guitars, pickups? I still do like Bogners! I think the Shiva is my next purchase, still the XTC-Classic is a good amp.

My Bogner XTC-Classic is one year old built in 2004. The amp covers many styles good but not great! 3 channels with foot controller, tube buffered efx-loop. I've used this amp live & studio. With Bogner 4x12 & 2x12(os) cabinets.

Sound Quality : 3
I'm using my , and a Anderson droptop strat (H/S/S). I'm into classical to rock. In general it's a good amp, I was pulled in by all the hipe, I thought it would be the greatist but it turns out to be missing that something special? The clean (grn) channel wasn't very good! I thought the "SHIVA" just blew the XTC-Classic away!! the 2nd (blue) channel wasn't bad, but no where near a great tone, I kept trying to convince myself that it was a great amp, but it just didn't do it?
The 3rd (red) channel, I was hoping for a wonderful but aggressive lead tone, only to find a crappy, you have to fight to get a good sustain, I mean it sustained but it sounded like a cheap version of someone elses design, kind of Marshall but not! I wasn't looking to compare it to. I've played my Fenders and they just kill this XTC-Classic (pos) for cleans! and in a live setting I really feel that the Shiva has a better Distortion tone? If it wasn't for a friend of mine that owns a Shiva, I would have never guessed it was a superior amp over the XTC-Classic :( I played both amps for a couple of weeks, in the studio and in a 400 seat auditorium side by side and my opinion on the XTC-Classic isn't very good.

Reliability : 4
Within 7 months the power transformer blew? Bogner changed it out and that was good, but from time to time there is this ground problem? I don't mind when it happens at home but when it happens at a performance (3000 seater) and this is the third time, it kind of gets me mad! Bogner said there is no problem? I live in Los Angeles so there down the street.

Customer Support : 6
Mark was a good person to talk to, he really knows his electronics!
Shawn on the other hand doesn't know anything about amps, other than reading product information out of the Bogner Catalog? Sorry but when someone is trying to sell himself as knowing what there talking about, you can see right through. Just call and ask him a question, but make it simple.

Overall Rating : 2
I've been playing for 30yrs, like many I've played almost every amp out there. I really like my '68 Marshall Plexi, Soldano SLO, Fender Twin, and believe it or not, I really like my friends "SHIVA". I thought by the amount of money for the XTC-Classic and as there "Flagship" amp, that it should have been so much better! in my honest opinion, if you really try the amp and work it and try not to pretend it's the best, but look at it as if you didn't buy it and your trying it out, you'll know what I mean. People try to justify there purchase, even used it's still expensive and it's not worth the price, (IMHO).

Clean is ok, not as good as the Shiva's, blue ch is the only good thing. Red is way to much compressed? overall a good amp but not great!

There are so many wonderful amplifiers, don't get puller in with the internet "HIPE"!!!!!!!!!!!!

I also noticed several of the reviews contain the word "hipe"??
I`m by no means fluent in English, but there can`t be many people who paid 3500 (3400 in one instance) who calls it the XTC-Classic, and writes hype "hipe"? :D

If the thread starter didn't own the amp in question, would he have started this post without the emotional investment?

Nothing wrong with negative reviews imo, otherwise the internet would be just one big paid commercial for business interests, a bunch of "yes men" attempting to censor out anything that's not a glowing review of their product. And they don't even have to pay for the free marketing, how useful is that to a prospective consumer?

Anyone with half a brain can usually tell if a negative review is honest disappointment or if it was embellished or posted with an ulterior motive.

Keep shining those lights in the dark corners I say.

I love in the second review where he refers to Mark Cameron as "Chameron" unintentionally.ROTFLMAO!!!!

Bro, I don't care what you say, you're perfectly fluent in English from all the posts I've read from ya.

We've had a couple of those. One guy called up and copped an attitude with me. I tried to be nice but kind of lost my cool and told him that the product was probably too complicated for his feeble brain. Several days later two very negative reviews, obviously by the same person, show up.

Bogner's are among the finest amplifiers in the world, anyone who gives them a 3 for sound quality is tone deaf.

HC is the last place I would go for gear advice.

HC would be a good place for reviews if it wasn't for d-bags like this guy...or these guys   XTC's are excellent amps, and not everything has to be point to point. What a turd!

When I was reading reviews on the Blackstar HT-5, I came across a review slamming it pretty bad. He said that there really weren't any tubes in the amp and that it sounded horrible, along the lines of a solid-state something or other...what an idiot. I had his reviews removed and then emailed him and told him that it's fine not to like something, but he should at least make fact-based statements and opinions about the products so potential buyers wouldn't be fed false information.

Mark Chameron??    I think the guy has an axe to grind over somthing we no nothing about. or he is a tone-deaf idiot, or both ;)

Nothing like a rape of the English language..and a total misappropriation of question marks.

Sounds like a load of crap to me..
If he didn't like the amp as much as he describes, I can't picture any guitar player keeping or using an amp for a year if they wasn't happy with it let alone gigging with it..
