What gadget do I need to switch channels on a Smallbox head using a Midi foot pedal ?? RJM Mini amp gizmo ? other options ?

Yes. I use a RJM Mini Amp Gizmo for all my Friedman amps - easy to connect & even easier to setup & switch.

Voodoo Lab Control Switcher is another choice.
I'm using one for switching channels on a Koch Pedaltone as well as on an amp I built myself. Does the job and is pretty good value for money too.
