So, 9 string guitars?

it looks like a chapman stick with wings. I wish I could play one but I guess I am old school and find this to be gimmicky. Do you think this is a fad or here to stay?

Yeah, but that's not an extended range guitar. It's still a standard guitar, but with paired strings like a 12 string.
