So my band is pretty much done and im thinking about selling my stuff to start a nice little recording rig for home, Thinking Axe-FX firewire interface and some decent monitors. Probably going to go with the AxeFX Standard as i dont think i can afford a Ultra with everything else.

Stuff im going to sell:
Mark IV
Port City 4x12
Eventide Time Factor
BB preamp
Mxr carbon copy

Hopefully i can gather enough from that to get a decent rig, wondering whats your opnion should i keep the stuff and just mess around at home with that or go for a recording rig and go to town i see alot more advantages with the axefx rig.

heres the band if anyone cares:

Do it, the Axe-Fx is awesome!

Ha that was fast

Also retartded question ill be fine without a poweramp for now if im just going direct in correct?

i would say go for it unless you absolutely love your rig.
if you would start playing with another band you could easily get a decent SS or tube power amp to pair with the Axe-FX and probably be able to cover just about any genre of music.

I do love the sound i am getting but being able to write on my own and the flexability/versatility of the Axe sounds like the way to go.
Curouis if ill have enough after selling all that stuff.

I would keep what you got. The market really sucks. You would probably lose alot of profit off that stuff you have. Then you might not have enought loot for your little studio. Check and see what Mark IVs are going for on ebay. If they are moving pretty decent coin then go for it.

imho, i would wait until the end of the year when christmas bonus' come in, or the return of tax season next year to unload all of anyones gear.

thats what i would do if i had to sell all of mine, granted it wasnt an emergency or anything.

i just wouldnt jump without looking how far down it is first. you would sell it all for the prices they are actually worth, and not what people are thinking they are worth/and only wanting to pay.

just my .02

good points im actully planning on selling all pretty cheap Mark IV around 13 on ebay there around 16-17 eventide is brand new pretty much still have box and everything looking for 3 the one im pretty scarred about is the pory city 4x12 since its not such a popular brand i was thinking 6 which is half of what i bought it for.

The axe fx is totally killer man! I have one and Ive been really digging it...

I just made a sick patch..its a Mark IV blended with a Diezel VH4...sounds so awesome!

Word of caution, it can be overwhelming, but just have patience.

Do you have the ultra or standard i wish i could afford the ultra but im going to have to go with the standard.
Im going to kick myself in the ass later for not getting an ultra i know it

I have the Standard and its by all means good enough for me. I couldnt afford the Ultra and Im glad. Ive got it running in a nice wooden headshell with a Carvin DCM 150 and a furman power conditioner, everything cost about 2k and it sounds awesome!

Im debating which i should get already ready the comparsion sheet, forums and such but it makes alot more sense to get the ultra unless! I can save all my presets on the computer, delete them from the axe(to get more memory) then call them up later i dont know if thats possible. Since you never know how many updates there are.

Yes, you can store patches (or even whole banks of patches) on the PC and swap them in and out of the Axe-Fx. No problem.

The Ultra doesn't buy you anymore space for patches. What it does buy you is more processing power for each individual patch. The more you stuff you put into a patch (amps, effects, EQ's, reverbs, etc.) the more processing power you need. If you're a huge amount of effects kind of guy, then you could theoretically max out the Standard's processing power, and have to back off on some of the stuff you've put into a patch. The Ultra gives you more processing power to handle it.

What kind of shape is your Mark IV in? Short head? Can you send pics to CudBucket@verizon.net.

I've got an Axe FX Standard in new condition I might consider giving up for the IV.

Thanks.

Dave

Thanks! Yea well we lost are singer he was clinical depressed drugged as hell off of weed and pain pills so that started the downfall for the wholw band we kept writing music better than that but we didnt find a singer, Theres no good musicians in SD Really so me and my guitarist are going to start are own side project which will have "The Haven" sound still because we wrote all the music just using superior 2.0 and metal foundry with axe-fx and such!
