So... Candlebox anyone?

Saw Candlebox here in Memphis last Friday night. I was impressed the guy can still sing so well. The rest of the band was pretty tight too.

candlebox is cool. definitely one of the good grunge bands imo. Creed doesn't sound and never has sounded like candlebox imo. I like some of creed too tho. definitely not all of their stuff but a lot of their darker sounding stuff: faceless man, say i, torn, etc...also some of their newer songs...don't judge me

They were great.. guitar player had great chops. However, like most bands who spend a lifetime writing one album, the follow ups are usually weak. I think we have all done this ourselves and that is why we should really be more sympathetic of bands who are being pushed by big companies to ride the waves of their success. Very few bands really could consistently deliver the goods. The ones that did are the iconic legends they are today. Look at Appetite for Destruction. Such an awesome album... the follow ups... hmmmmm a few highlights here or there but not raw and kick ass like the first album.

Candlebox still has the goods. Killer vocals, and great guitar w/awesome tones. If you aren't familiar with them, they're definitely worth checking out.

a video from last friday's show in Memphis, with 2 guitarists from Saving Abel playing also

Scott Mercado is one of the very best pocket players you'll ever hear on drums.

I wore the first album out. The second one took a little getting used to, but it's good as well. The first album is pretty much all Peavey VTM.

Candlebox is criminally underrated. The debut was as solid as they come... and Happy Pills is an awesome record front-to-back. I didn't get into Into The Sun like I thought I would though. Oh... and they are in town tomorrow!

Actually the first album is a mixture of Peavey Classic 100 head and a Marshall Artist head.

I really like "Into the Sun", great disc just listened to it today. Their shows are always great - wish they would come back soon. I didn't know they were back together - thought the guys were doing the Gracious Few band - glad to hear they are back!

Were the guys in Creed big Candelbox fans?

Relevance?... cuz they def don't sound alike. :dunno:
Not talking about them sounding similar. I just meant that when you look at both bands, many of their songs have the same formula. Really big atmospheric songs with layers of clean tones then BOOM huge chunky in your face guitars.

I remember reading it was a lot of VTM. I saw them in '95 and Klett had a Classic 100 fullstack and a Dual Rectifier fullstack. His tone was killer.

Oh ok i see what your saying.. IMO they're so different I never would have connected that... Maybe Creed is a Pearl Jam fan cuz Scott Stapp wants to sound like Vedder in worst way lol

No judgement from me man! I like Creed! I like Alter Bridge even more! And yeah, I get the dislike for Scott Stapp for the most part. But the guys from Creed kicked ass and I jam along with "Faceless Man" and "Are You Ready" from time to time.

Oh... and yeah... Candlebox kicks ASS! I first saw them in the late 90s. Didn't really know who they were, but a friend dragged me to a CB show here in Billings, MT and I became an instant fan. Loved rocking it to tunes like "Arrow" and "Change". I remember the vocalist really delivering it live... despite the water bottle that some asshole threw at his head!
