Rand guitars...a small company that made about 70 guitars from '87-'89. The Hamer Californian was influenced by them.halford":34q0ozet said:rupe":34q0ozet said:I've probably played between 15-20 of the FMIC custom shop Charvels...very nice guitars but not remotely in the same league as an Anderson. The QC issues have been well documented for several years now...you just don't see that with Anderson or Suhr.
Also, an Anderson Pro-Am is every bit the "hot rod" that any Charvel is...they're not all "Bentleys"![]()
Hey rupe what guitars are they in your Profile Pic?
Hammers ?
Halford

I picked them up in person from the Suhr factory and each time I hung out while John set them up exactly how I wanted them. Handing them to me over and over again. Super nice guy! Amazing guitars and just drop dead beautiful. Again there is nothing negative i can say about them. It's just for me, from a feeling in my hands, seat of my pants, hit you in the gut, catching a vibe sort of way the Charvel to me is this:

The others are this:

There's nothing wrong with either. I have heard guys rip on Andersons and Suhrs. Heck, even Bentley (actually Audi ) built this and won the 24 hours of LeMans.

It's just that Porsche has won it 16 times.![]()

Chubtone":2qeoqhcu said:Scotty,
I grew up in Chicago. I was a total muscle car guy. Totally. I had a '68 Mustang with a 302 with freaking dual quads on it. Total, dyed in the wool, there is nothing else out there sort of muscle car guy. All my friends had muscle cars. Nova's, Chevelle's, Camaro's, Challengers, Chargers, Trans Ams, Mustangs. I'm talking some very wicked stuff. There was a lot of drag racing and I was way into it and could have told you every single thing that ever changed on a Mustang from year to year.
Then I came out to visit my cousin in LA in the early 80's when the whole Mulholland Highway illegal road racing thing was in full swing. Believe it or not, he took me over Mulholland in his totally raced out Datsun 510 with a full cage and race rubber and flares and 280ZX suspension and I kid you not, I was converted right there. When I saw that 510, i thought it was the lamest thing i ever saw. I didn't realize that those things were used to race in the Trans Am series in the early 70's That thing was so wicked and all he kept saying to me as we 4 wheel drifted sideways around corners and went into corners at stupid speeds was "can your Mustang do this?" and "if we were in your Mustang we'd be dead right now".
I still have a soft spot in my heart for Mustangs. My wife had a '65 fastback when we met too. But I have to tell you that no V8 I ever heard sounds as good as a naturally aspirated, air-cooled, flat six at 8000 rpm's. It is seriously the best "tone" I have ever heard but i have never been in a Ferrari. I'm told that's the next level up sound-wise. And the VW comparisons make you sound like a noob. Ferdinand Porsche's father was responsible for the VW and lots of Mercedes and the German Tiger tank. But he never had anything to do with Porsche. He was never involved. For some reason they put him in jail after WWII.![]()
And the Mustang in your pic is no Charvel. That's a Les Paul. Big, burly, beefy, like a late 70's, east German womens olympic rowing team. We're talking about the difference between Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant.
PS. Your Charvel box was going to be a little bit heavier than normal, remember that? I request immediate removal from your Sucks Ass list.![]()

21 frets with a hardtail, yes. Floyd, no.
Sorry to keep delving into this, but is it a playability thing? Sound thing? Cosmetic? I don't have any Floyd'd 21 fretters so I'm wondering what you find the difference to be with 22 vs. 21 frets...donbarzini":r3fdi2m8 said:sah5150":r3fdi2m8 said:Why? I should have been more clear, just not a Floyd with 21 frets, a vintage tremolo OK. It's just personal preference, I wouldn't like a Floyd on a 21 fret guitar.
Agreed, however, I could deal with the "Modded" idea. The only thing stopping me is the gold floyd and the last trace of sanity I have left that is telling me I don't need any more guitars.psychodave":23bsrqaw said:sah5150":23bsrqaw said:Damn sweet, huh? Yes. I think I would have jumped on it if they didnt try to make it "appear" to be modded by having the original bridge screw holes and making a rout for the Flody. I have no need for that stuff. Just make it nice from the start with a Floyd![]()
