So for you recording guys. Do you find one DAW sounds better

Have used all the major players and I am sticking with Reaper. Pro Tools is AVID bloat shit and Logic got douched by Apple. If I was a commercial studio I may feel different but to me if you can hear the difference between Reaper and any of the bigger name DAW's you probably should be using the best one out there whatever that is. My engineer buddy from the city claims it's Pro Tools HD rigs.

Then again if you can't get Reaper to sound good you probably can't get any of them to sound good. What do I know anyway, I still use a console and a Tascam MSR 16 with Dolby S and shit tons of outboard. Carry on.

All I know is the updated version of PT sounds better than the version I started with... Same interface and mike-pre's, mikes
Everyone involved thinks so also
I would have to say the algorithm's within the system do matter in the end result
We do use quite a bit of plug-in's, but we are running UA plug in's with 2 outboard cards for processing. I dont know how that factors in...

You guys are funny. :)
You can explain away the differences in any way you'd like.
But, fact remains this is coded by HUMANS. In a perfect world the results should have been the same but in the real world programmers are up against deadlines and fatigue. Testers are not always diligent about catching things. Project managers worry about timelines at the expense of doing it right and senior management worry about competition and time to market. All these things will factor in to the final product.

At the end of the day, they're all great pieces of software and use what you want yada yada yada. But as much as I hate to say it, they sound different once the file is exported. To me, if the final file export sounds different in different DAWs than that's an issue since no one really whips out their DAW and goes "Hey listen to this song I recorded".

Also, my Normalization is TURNED OFF in Logic. :)

The Logic Pro X seems to be louder than the Cubase mix.
After comparing Logic Pro X and Cubase, I still get more work done in Cubase simply because I'm too lazy to learn the Logic to the same level as Cubase :)

I stuck with Cubase so long because to me it was the most intuitive DAW. I have no issues with Logic Pro X at this point. I've found everything. Cudos to Apple for cleaning up the UI. Every time I'd try Logic in the past I couldn't find anything...
