annnnnd...it's going back

long story short I was thinking of getting something warmish to run in front of my amp..not a super bright idea running high gain...of course, this setup CAN sound good if you're using a boost into a slightly dirty amp..but that's not my setup so it wasn't working

what I wanted was that ain't talkin' about love slap back type of repeat...

anywho, I slapped it in the loop of a couple of my amps and I just found the repeats overly dark for my liking...I don't mind the dirty nature of the repeats...just that they were really dark..

I found that using my DD 20 with the tape setting and upping the tone slightly to get a brighter repeat works just fine for me...I found I like the timing at around 350 ms or so...not too short, not too long..but that's not important right now

just my thoughts on the CC...I was thinking of a TC Flashback...but I've fallin in love with my gigadelay all over again so that's good enough for me...

so now the cc gets returned..and I can use that money for....something else ;)

Hated the CC , LOVE the TC and aint never getting rid of it. For what I do, its perfect and alot of value for the money

like you said, for what I do it just wasn't working..Iv'e heard clips on here and youtube where it sounded killer..of course that was in front of, as I said, a boosted slighly dirty amp...which ain't my thing =D

the TC sounds cool and has alotta features...but if anything, I rediscovered a pretty good pedal I had sitting around, dig what I'm saying? I love me some deray, but I don't find myself needing a bunch of different pedals...are there 'better pedals' out there than what I have? I'm sure..but I dig the sound, ya know?

like I said, the money can go towards another peice of gear..hee heeee

I dig, no arguments here...

Why up front? Did ya try it in the loop? Delays sound like crap in front

The CC was kind of meant to go out front as I understand it, for those guys without loops..

LOL I've got one of each on my board. But if I had to choose only one, it would be the Flashback.

True.

I'm not a fan of it. Even though some people, LOTS of people, swear by this lil' stomp... I'm a TF kinda guy, an Eventide ho'.

Mojo

shredface? That's a new one =D

delays don't always sound bad in the loop...like I said, they're good in front IF you're doing a little boostage on a semi dirty amp...for my application, sticking it in front of a modded ass kinda marshall..yeah, they blow..lol

and I did try it in the loop..and as I said, just too dark for my liking..although it does get a cool slap back and the mod function sounds nice..when crankin das gainzorz it's too cloudy sounding for moi

I like delay both in the loop and out front. For doing the Cathedral thing the delay works better into the input, even with high gain. Because if you play staccato the notes don't bury each other. But for lead playing when you want that ambient feel of the delay to get that greasy lead feel it needs to be in the loop

that's exactly it..for any type of normal lead line type of work it just explodes out front..

better up front for that real slap back cathedral type of thing...

What are some of the things you didnt like about the carbon copy.

I thought the Malekko 616 did what the CC was trying to do 100x better. If you already have a delay that works for you, no reason to buy another one!

The Flashback is a killer box and does lots of things really well.

Besides the CC, are there any other pedals that sound good up front in the "medium gain and boost pedal" scenario?

the repeats were too dark for my liking...I don't mind a little dirt on my delay but they were too muffled for my liking

I have a CC and LOVE it. I love the dirty repeats and the warm analog tone.

just a matter of opinion =) one man's warm analog tone is another man's too dark and muffled..ain't no thang!

I here this alot that the MXR carbon copy is a great delay for the early van halen sound, any thoughts on this or is the cc to muddy-dark for that sound.
