I was looking for a portable practice solution that would allow me to jam along with tracks, youtube, and plug into a mixer/amp. iRig 2 seemed to meet all of these requirements. I also downloaded Positive Grid Bias and JamUp. So far, my two favorite patches so far are a Bogner Ecstacy 101B with some delay and a Fender Bassman with a tube screamer and some reverb… both are really nice for leads.
I’m still working on tweaking my settings, but it’s pretty fun so far. I don’t think I’ll ever go nuts with all of the crazy configurations you can do because it sounds great.
For example, one of my favorite lead tones ever is from Steve Vai on the song For the Love of God. The Bogner 101B setting with delay pretty much nails it. I’ve never heard any other modeler sound so close to the original tone on that song.
So for a total of $45($40 for iRig 2 and $5 for Bias), I got a great little setup.
Pretty fun stuff.
Anyone else use it?
