....for some odd reason I'm concerned the low end isn't going to be enough for my tastes :( am I crazy? Will it have the low end of a 5150III, Cobra, etc...I love a HUGE, yet super tight, low end.

Trick is to keep the bass control low and add it with the GEQ. It has plenty of low end. But you have to get it this way. Otherwise it will sound like ass.

That tone sounds good, but that spot around 3:30 with the palm muted low chord is what may end up making me trade it or sell it......just doesn't have that massive low end behind it. Super tight though, but I want tight AND teh lowz :)

Well after all it is a guitar amp. Is your cab up to the task? What speakers are you using?

I'll give it a fair shot. Using a Splawn 4x12 with V30s/K100s...my favorite cab to date :)

Mk IV is one of the best amps of the planet! If you haven't owned one I highly recommend trying one.

Mine comes in Friday, I'll jam w it Saturday and report back

Contact Ralph/gainfreak for settings. The fun factor is off the charts.

It doesn't have Recto type low end but it has more than enough for killer chugging. TBH, I don't know why you would need more than it offers.

Do you remember Zorran back in the day (HCAF). He recorded some of the best Mark IV metal clips on the boards. Here is a clip of the Mark that, IMO, has plenty of low end (with lot's more on tap). They key as was said before was to keep it between 0 an 1 on the dial and adjust with the graphic EQ.

Put it this way. I have owned 2 Mk IVs. Regret selling them. As foar as tone goes... if I'm ever in a cover band that does early Metallica or Sykes era Whitesnake/Blue Murder... The Mk IV would be my amp!

Wow! Cool clip....that's kinda along the tone I was looking for....my band is very Metallica/Godsmack'ish

If you set it up like Ralph tells you to and the tubes are at all decent.... you are going to love this amp.

Ask and you shall receive (Ralph and SFW's settings). Perfect places to start. I use these as my guides:

If you do a side by side of a IV & DR with the same everything else the same the IV is capable of producing more bottom than a DR. I have owned a IV since 1990 & DR since 1994 and very familiar with both.

At some point would you want a crossover and a 15" cab?

I guess I don't get the gravitation from the guitar as a treble clef instrument to a bass clef range piece.

I have never heard a 15inch guitar speaker I like the sound that much other than for clean sounds. I would not want one but many might ....

How much bass is used has a lot to do with what other instruments you are playing with & the type/style of music you are playing.
