cant tell if i like it yet, but holy hell is it percussive, more balls and the notes just sound more full. i can see what people say who play 9's and get the weak qwack going on, all in opinion as to which side is better but 11's really bring out something that 10's hint at but arent quite there. i do agree 9's allow you to be more responsive in your playing, but heavier gauges allow you to bring out the best in your technique. no wonder stevie used 13's.

rhythm's are much more fun to play, and vertical runs are much easier to pull off going down the neck using strict alternate picking, for some reason the heavier gauge makes it easier to do this, you would think it would be the other way around

anyone on the verge of thinking 11-52's over their current 10's should go for it. you loose some of the wild vibrato capabilities IMHO but gain alot more in other areas of your playing. definitely sounds more modern.

I may try that on my next restringing. 11-52 in E.

I use 0.10's, how do you compare the power needed to bend notes? Is that much more effort required?
I remember when I was young, when switching from 0.09 to 0.10, it took a while to get used to...

man 11's on E it's the way to go.... less than that is for wimps! :D

its a fuckload harder than 9's going to 10's

thats partially what i mean by "im not sure i like it" and "it brings out your technique" - it could bring out the worst or the best in your technique as far as solos are concerned, 11's wont allow you to hide behind anything and if you choose the wrong note theres hell to pay to bend to the right one

arpeggios are much more clear and defined, runs have more power behind them, rhythm/chording is more responsive and just rings out much more full.

anyone using 10-46's that is looking to get out of a rut in your playing, seriously consider going to 11's on your next string change, its totally worth it and will bring out the good or the bad in technique

Been using the Dunlop 11-50 set in tuned to E standard for the last couple months. Sounds killer and you get used to the tension pretty quick, IMO.

i used to rock heavy guage flatwounds on my old les paul. really had a sound all it's own.

I went to 11-50's on my LP tuned down 1/2 step quite a while ago. Wouldn't use anything else...

I was using 11's years ago but I kept breaking the high E string on bends. More tension already so add a 1 1/2 step bend and you could be in snap city. Always happened on stage of course, never at home or practice. So, I'm back to 10's. I like the sound though. If you are a light touch picking hand player they actually could sound worse.

im a light hand picking player, im left handed but play a right handed guitar, so its not really by choice, my right hand just isnt my dominant hand. i actually think it benefits my playing over 10's, by far. the reason is because 11's are much more responsive not to pick attack but picking technique, if you have developed different styles then 11's actually do great to show these changes which is something ive never seen or heard with 9's or 10's before.

Yeah I use the 11's too -- It is awesome for core tone-- the only thing you lose is "stringy-ness" or "twang"
and yeah it is way harder to bend but after a day you acclimate eith way but if your hands/wrists are not strong you can feel the move up!

Imo 9's are "effect strings.." for playing if you for whatever reason were in a coma for 6 months weak hands and had to shred the next day__

10's are legit to me stringy and solid enough, less meat
11's warmer more solid /./. and they are more stationary you can not bend them as silly-ily

I wanna put 10's back on after remembering what I love about both 10's and 11's
12's have the wound G usually and then it is game over for single note slippery for me I do not like th wound G

8's n 9's are limp--- to me

what Brand do you guys use-- I like D'Adarrio but everyone tells me there is better

Beefy Slinkys on every ax I own (.11 to .54)

Just sayin'
