and had a blast! $599 for a very cool 80s vHish vibe and low volume. built in delay for effortless leads

tell me why this thing is lame so i don't buy it!

also played some cool martin acoustic with a fishman? loudbox amp that sounded killer...

....oh oh.... :D

The only cool amps are ones made by independent builders that charge over 2 grand. So the Haze is lame. There. Somebody had to say it.

I played a Haze 40 at Best Buy. While I didn't buy it, it rekindled my already developing Marshall fever and ended up selling my Renegade. It was a long time coming anyways. :D

It was a neat little amp and fun to play.

I had a Haze 40 for a few weeks and really enjoyed playing it, it had a nice thick mid gain tone, the loop worked great.
After having it for only a week it sputtered, crackled and died on stage on me right in the middle of a set. Luckily I had my Tonelab and could run direct for the rest of the night.
I researched it and apparently I wasn't the only one with this same exact problem.
I didn't trust the Haze to perform night after night so I returned it.

thank you :D

I know it doesn't have fx or anything, but for $465 plus shipping you could buy an 18 watt Marshall kit from Weber - they aren't super complex, and you'd end up with a vintage style amp that would be fun to tweak and probably last much longer. And it would be about the same wattage. $465 includes headshell and your choice of tolex... IMHO a crazy bargain even if you went back later and put Mercury Mag iron and sozos in it.

I built a few for myself and friends and they are killer little amps.

Clips of said 18-Watt projects?

I've looked (longingly) at the Reeves Custom 10HG for months but can't convince myself to spend that kind of money on a 10-Watt amp, even though it's built like a tank and sounds great. If I could get similar functionality from a $500 amp (and avoid electrocution in the process...), that would be cool.

Sorry for the pseudo hijack :scared:

I have some somewhere... if I can't dig em up, I'll make some new ones. :) I seem to recall I got some nice vintage marshall tones with one channel (they are two channel amps, but not footswitchable) and the other one I voiced for voxy jangle. They are very simple amps and easy to modify. One would make a GREAT first project before tackling something like a plexi IMHO.

That would be great. Assuming I like the tone, I could see that as a winter project. I consider myself to be reasonably smart (I can follow directions and have wielded a soldering iron on more than one occasion   ), but I would be leary of jumping in to a 100W Plexi clone without some warm-up time. Sounds like a great first step with the result being a valuable addition to the gear pile.

I played a Haze combo recently and expected to hear harsh thin gain sounds and I was surprised when it sounded good. I played it side by side with an Egnater Rebel 30 combo and I was expecting the Egnater to win the comparison but I preferred the Marshall.
