So I scored a Mint 2006 Marshall TSL 100 for $625.00 today

I always kind of over looked this amp... I had one years ago but didn't really keep it long enough to get into it...

I plugged it into my Mesa Traditional 4x12 slant, threw a little OD-9 on the lead channel with the bass boost on and the mid scoop switch OFF + some EMG's and some rightous volume and WOW!!!

Tuned down to "C" I dialed in a killer tone that was just sick and total hatebreed/slayerish in seconds

I know I will get flammed for this, but I liked it way better than the Fortin JCM 800 youtube clip by a long shot... I dialed in pretty much the exact same marshall type tone as that clip on youtube but it was thicker and more brutal over all I thought (and way cheaper)

I later ran the TSL 100 in stereo with my Triple Rec that I just retubed with SED Winged C 6L6's boosted with the OD-9 on the Orange channel and I was very impressed how these amps blend so nicely together for the brutalz...

You can get these heads for like dirt cheap right now and with EMGs they are pretty sweet if you love that Modern Marshall Metal Sound with out the high price tag...

I'm thinking I will be picking up another one of these heads soon as they are dirt cheap if you look around

The DSL100 head alone used to be more than this half-stack. Is the "MLB" version the same amp?

Marshall had a ton of these DSL's and parts lying around so they built them/bundeld them witha basicly a free cab a discounted price just to clear them out... They are the excat same DSL head as always but with the valvestate style tolex...

TSL's get a bad rap, but they're pretty damn good amps. The footswitch sucks, but the amps sound good. That middle channel with a boost kills.

I agree. The footswitch is fine but the DIN plug at the amp was total crap. It is only mounted to the PCB and not the chassis so it is very prone to breaking. Terrible design. Great sounding amp though!

They are great amps especially if you put some killer tubes in there and dial up the bias... I heard the first year or two had a messeed up bias pot value that you can change... there is a review about this on HC in the marshall/TSL section where a guy taks all about this... If you get a one newer than like 1997 or 1998 Marsahall fixed this but I dont know exactly when.... Mine is a 2006 last year made I believe... Sounds bad ass!
