Hello all! Haven't been around lately but, have started to playing more and more lately so why not jump back into to rigtalk while I'm at it

Anyways, I've been saying I need to sell some guitars for YEARS and I finally took the plunge! I sold 2 Ibanez, 1 Baker, 1 Jackson and 1 Gibson... And I wasn't struck by a thunderbolt or anything!! Now I have to select another 7 or so to sell and I'll drop down to my first milestone goal of 30 guitars. Then the thunderbolts will strike me at that point because my ultimate goal is 20 and I honestly don't know how I'll be able to choose the final 10 to go

Who else is in the same boat? You know, the you don't play X amount of guitars but, you can't part with them either boat?

I decided to let the guitars that were not custom ordered/built to my specs go. One of the guitars I let go came back 2 years later, but other than that they are still gone and haven't been replaced.

Amps,on the other hand......

So glad you're back Ivan!! It's been a long time. Hope you stick around!!

I hear you. I found it easier to sell amps though. Guitars just feel so much more personal and one of a kind (even when they are regular production models as I take care in selecting them) to me so they're harder to get rid of however, I can totally see modded amps (and Chris Schmidt era Cameron's) being equally hard to let go of though!

Hey Chad!! I see Anderson's are still king!! What do you think of your CLR vs a reg cab?

Hello Steve!! Great to see that you're still making amps!!

Well you can sell me that Blue Anderson!

Grr... it's a maybe--I keep avoiding taking it out of its case and seeing if I want to sell it!!

Hey Ivan. Good to see you around.

I was in the same boat. I'm down to two Charvels (one is a pro mod I put away for my kids) one Strat and one Les Paul. Feels good to basically have 3 guitars. With that said, I really only play only one guitar...my white Charvel.

...final milestone of 30 guitars and I thought I was bad with 17!!!! \m/

Hey Dave I'm trying to do the same thing that I think you're doing, one LP, one Strat, and a Charvel or Jackson here and there. I found what I think is a good LP and it's just a Traditional but it sounds killer....still going to fuck with pickups though.  There's really no replacement for a good LP, I tried avoiding and buying PRS Singlecuts but every single time I played one against a Gibson.....the Gibson blew it's doors off for tone.

Dave!! How are you and the family? I assume you still have your amp harem though?

Nah you're bad too ;) final milestone is 20. Just want to get to 30 as soon as possible (I think I'm at 37).

Fuck, been trying also for years to sell some guitars, cant do it!!!!!!

I am also at 37 guitars right now and it is ridiculous. I too want to get to 20 or so.......

One of the hardest decisions i have come across.

Well you guys clearly have a problem (jk), I'm at 15 (?) but would love to get to 7-8. On the other hand I just bought another Tv (LG oled), my 3rd in 4 years- so there's that... :D

Hey Ivan. I hope you're doing well.

I tried to keep no more than 15 guitars (not including bass, bass rig & acoustics), 3 amps, and 3 cabs. I struggled with this for years. Recently I went through a reverse GAS phase and started getting off on selling stuff.  I'm down to 8 guitars, 1 amp and 1 4x12 (in addition to my Axe Fx II w/FRFR cabs). I also sold about 15 pickups, 3 bodies, and 4 necks. I love all the extra space.

Now i need to get rid of about 75 tubes.

It's a good feeling only having 3-4. I don't have to worry about setting up a lot of shit every time the weather changes. I also lose to comparison factor since all of the guitars are different...I hated going back and fourth like one guitar for one thing and another for something else. Then, as you mentioned, doing the pickup search only to either hate everything you try or ending up with the same pickup in every guitar. I got lucky with my white Charvel.

Some of those traditional LP's are killer. Glad you got a good one. I've yet to own a PRS. I don't like the neck heels.
