The 6 month thing is the real issue here, not the 3% fee. The seller has very little leverage now with PayPal so they try to level the field by doing the gift thing. I see both sides. If I am buying anything regardless of how they want paid I make sure I know what I am getting. You can always add a disclosure form to sign by both parties on working condition, overall condition, etc. There is always a way to get things handled and be covered on both sides.

Yeah, when I'm buying I always ask very specific questions now to make sure that what I'm buying is functional. that way, I have a specific written description that I can point to if something's not right. And if a seller is nervous about me, I don't mind giving references.

I've always offered a 3% discount if someone wants to send me a USPS money order. When someone orders a speaker(s), paypal takes their 3% off the top before I get it. So if someone wants to pay via USPS money order, cash/personal check, I take the 3% off. I never understood the gouging mentality. Since I never see the 3% paypal takes anyway, there's no point asking for it in a cash/check/money order type sale.

I dunno, maybe it's just my idea of being fair, but that's what I do.

Yeah, I'm not using Paypal gift if I don't know the seller and 100% trust them. If they don't want to pay the fees then don't take Paypal or add the fees into your asking price.

I'm not sending a unknown stranger money without any protection and sellers that expect buyers to do that need to wise up. WAY to many scammers out there these days.

Just an FYI. I had a problem buying an amp on Reverb. It's a long story but amp showed up with problems. Reverb said it had been longer than 7 days after the sale. This was during the holidays and after receiving the amp with problems I contacted the seller, he agreed to have me take it to a local tech. Since it was Christmas it took longer than 7 days. Buyer wouldn't refund amp or partially refund shit. He backed the fuck out. Reverb said it's been longer than 7 days so they won't cover it. I file a Paypal claim and they said they don't cover "Amplifiers"

So I get fucked.

Just an FYI paypal gift or not they can and will break it off in your ass. I learned the hard way.

OK? That's something extremely specific and would be listed in their exclusions list. PayPal's policies are pretty clear.

Yes. As a seller, you're not supposed to take PayPal Gift for any purchases made.

That's also how sellers who have something bogus get around the paypal protection and complaints.

Once you go PP Gift, you cough up all of your rights as a buyer. That's because you assumed the risk
of making it look like you were sending money to a family member or friend for a debt, loan, etc.

You may as well just send them cash in an envelope and pray at that point.
