Killer tune. Probably my favourite Maiden song. But what does it have to do with Judas Priest???

Depends....I am a huge fan of both. Could never be made to decide who I like better. Just happy I grew up during their peak!

I was 15 when both bands really started hitting their stride. I got more out of Iron Maiden musically and entertainment wise than Priest. I really liked Priest but I just dug Maiden so much more.

Posted a great clip Rez

Both killer bands in their day..............loved both of them a lot.........no need to compare them.

Met Nico at his Rock And Roll Ribs place a few weeks ago here in Fort Lauderdale Florida

Asked him how Bruce is doing & he said "he's doing pretty good all things considered".

Who knows, hope he survives that crap disease

Nothing, it's a ridiculous statement. But it's his preference sovits all good. Same as the whos a better guitarist thing... Cracks me up.

By the way, play some classic maiden next time .. I still look at somewhere in time as the new maiden. Lol

I always was a big Maiden fan. I'm in part time Maiden Tribute band and we do all the first 2 albums. The thing I liked about Maiden over Priest is Maiden never tried to go commercial like Priest did with that aweful Turbo album. Then they tried to go too modern with Painkiller and to me it sounded like they were trying too hard.

Exactly, Powerslave was their last good album.

They both have a few clunker records. Painkiller is one of their best IMO, can't think of another band that went out of their way to get better. Front to back Painkiller is tough to beat.

Another classic apples to oranges thread, sounds like a couple of 14 year olds proclaiming some kind of victory from Hit Parader or Circus magazine because one band or another won some contest or poll.

Plenty of room in my collection for both bands.

Better than Priest at the same time as they came out with Turbo around then. Maybe a little later. 84-85 was the beginning of the end for almost all of the killer British Metal bands from the late 70's. Except for Motorhead…..Poison couldn't kill that cockroach…..thankfully.

The song Reckless on Turbo is a great song... somewhere in time was the last of Iron Maiden for me, I loved it but nothing really after that.

I was just watching this JP show from the US Festival 1983, good stuff.

I remember seeing Iron Maiden open for the Scorpions on the Blackout tour in 1982. One of
the best shows I've seen! Also saw the Screaming for Vengeance tour in "82" Those were the days!

Basically, started this thread for fun and to spark some good convos.

But the truth is , Judas Priest is never going to be as cool as Iron Maiden, never have as good of a iconic mascot. Never have better songs.

Iron Maider will always be better.

You are baiting us with those statements. Although next time pick a better Maiden song if you are going to argue that. Try to Tame a Land or Wrathchild.

I'm not a big Somewhere In Time fan due to the crappy Gallien Krueger tone but I like this tune.

Maiden is one of the first and definitely most successful Prog Metal band. Arguably my favorite band. And sorry Paul....its the Bruce show. One of the best metal vocalists ever. Number of the Beast to Somewhere in time. After that I fell off. Priest?? Love them also but not in the same category. However the first tunes I ever learned on guitar were Breaking the Law and Heading out to the Highway. Saw Priest in 82, and Maiden just 3 years ago and they killed it. Thing about Dave and Adrian is...they just plugged into JCM 800s/JMPs with a boost and let em rip. No mods from what I've read. Now its DSLs.

The Richard Simmons type shorts in the OP's initial video scarred me. I love both bands, remember the video but wasn't prepared for those shorts.
