For the price, wow. The guitar plays great and the neck is just unbelievable. One of the best bolt ons I've played. The roasted maple and satin finish is very, very nice, After conditioning and oiling the rosewood fretboard it's looks just as dark as my ebony boards. Nice solid tight grains and little to no porus areas. The jumbo frets are great, with some sharp edges that are slowly receding with the warmth of my hand and temperature acclimation. So I will wait before giving them some treatment.
The graphite nut is cut and set nicely as well. No belly cut or arm contour on the body either. They even used a gold font for the Schecter MIC wording on the back of the headstock so that it blends in nicely without being an eyesore. I also like that they don't bother with putting the model name on the guitar. (PT Standard)
It was nice to get a burl top with some figuring and those classic "rusty bubble" patterns.
The stock black chrome covered passive pickups are surprisingly adequate. Bridge measured at 13.79 while the neck is 10.49. The have no Schecter label on the underside and they are simply listed as Schecter Diamond series. I'm thinking there are A5. Not bad at all for Chinese OEM. But as originally planned, EMGs will be getting installed.
The guitar chugs nicely with its mahogany body and notes absolutely leap off the freeboard. Currently tuned to drop C# with DR Tite Fit 10-50. This guitar definitely scratched and satisfied that Charvel itch I had. Same vibe.
I was so impressed with this series...
That I ordered another one the next day...
