Can totally nail that dimed plexi sound!
Lately, while getting my big rack rig up and running, I've been using my Gerlitz amp with a few pedals as my weekly rig. I decided to try the "dimed" settings the other week, and to my surprise, it actually sounded incredible. I did back off the gain a little, just to suit my situation, but pretty much everything else was at or near "11"!
Tried to do the same thing the other day with my Xman on channel B, and to my surprise, I had very similar results. All the KRANG I need, and plenty of gain. For those of you who would like a more vintage sounding SL module, the Xman might be the way to go. I pretty much stayed on channel B all night, I was enjoying it so much!
The real surprise was how well channel A sounded with that EQ setup as well. Running the tone controls all the way up actually gave a really nice brilliance to an otherwise very warm and comfy channel. Almost twin/deluxe-ish...almost.
