No announcement or anything? Did I miss something? Only way I found out is that my Retro 100 demo thread was moved.

Just saw this myself.
Really dig that clip of the Engl you put up.
Amp has a differnent feel then the other Engls you owned?
Sounded really good.

My bad, we created the forum but I forgot to make the announcement.

My brother had twins this week and I have been crazy busy with that

Yes, very much so. Feels really good and much more like a responsive tube amp than others in their line. The closest thing I can compare it to is the Blackmore but it is also very different. That makes no sense. Oh well.

I do think I know what you mean though.
Little more on the Organic side vs the metal side?
Thats why I liked the Invader 150 out of the 3 I had the best. But this one seems to be a little more what I would like to get.
Sooooooo........when you grabbing one?? :D

Yeah, the reason I say the Blackmore is because of its simplicity and voicing. The Retro is even more classic sounding than the Blackmore and the EL34 power section just feels killer.

I am trying to get one as we speak... :D

What I liked personally from the clip you put up....has a good classic vibe....then just gets down and Nasty.
I really liked the Engls I had but they always had this "hard" edge to them ya know? Not a bad thing...but after a while it seemed to turn me off. And I am a metal head!

Me too! Metal is my thing but this amp is so much more which is killer because I like to play every style. It actually is probably not metal enough for some, but that is where playing style/right hand comes in.

Yeah the thing I didnt like about the past Engls was when I tried to play it at a lower gain...
it just sounded like a Metal Channel with the gain turned down.....just 'weaker' metal tone if that makes sense?
I love a good ripping metal tone most of the time but love a good full rock tone in a amp. Most of the time you have to take the lesser of the two evils....thats when I always choose the Heavier amps. :D
Love my modded Recto....just wish I could get a good rounded Rock tone out of it. But oh well...
Its just voiced mean.....and I love it. But it dont sound like that Engl. ;)

Congrats Brad! My brother and his wife had identical twin boys in December. Good times.
I REALLY dig Jason's clip of the Retro. Sounds absolutely killer and just heavy enough for the metal stuff, but nice and organic and chewy for serious rock tones. Like Dan said above, other Engls KILL for modern and thrash, but won't do the warm classic crunch.

BUT- I've heard horror stories about build quality/reliability from forum members and a couple friends who had issues...

Killertone weren't you at the LA shop? Do they sell cabs?

Yes, I was at the place at Third Encore. Not sure if Michael is selling stuff out of the shop or not but they had a ton of cabs. Probably around 15.

Hey Guys,

I have a few of the new Retros on order, they will be shipping into the USA in April. There are none here now other than the NAMM amp which is the one Jason tried in North Hollywood.

It is my understanding that the NOHO Engl showroom is a place for ENGL to store their NAMM display and gear instead of sending it back to Germany and a place for signed artists to be able to try the gear.

Please shoot me a PM or give me a call in you want anything ENGL as I am the newest dealer for the gear.

Brad
