That was the same guitar my teacher used in my first lesson. I thought it was so frickin metal! My first guitar was a no name strat copy out of the armed forces catalog.

Played and sounded like crap. I think it's super cool looking.

a generic cheap acoustic followed by a rented Kramer 100st

My first OWNED electric was a Kramer Striker 600ST (plywood body factory pickups not emgs like below)

First actual guitar was this BTS acoustic I found in my parents' basement. Warped to shit, horrible wood, mold and mildew throughout. But it played. I remember the action on it was massive, but I played it.

Once that thing proved to my folks I was definitely into 'guitars' and electric guitars at that, my first 'proper' electric was an "el degas' Destroyer, can you believe it?? Man, it was blue with a white pickguard, and I think the neck was rosewood if I'm not mistaken. I just tried scouring the net to find a pic, no such luck.

Anyway, there you have it.

So what's the deal with the angle of that bridge pup? Fashion or function??

I started on my mom's Zim Garr, but my first owned was a B.C Rich Bronze Series Warlock... Every 13 year old that wanted to be Mick Thompson had to have one lol

Ibanez SA160.

I still play it and it's been over 7 years. I threw a JB in the bridge. Very nice guitar actually.

some random washburn that got snapped in half... don't know the model, came form a pawn shop and looked roughly like a thin LP

An old 60's Tiesco Del Rey, yard sale special...this was back in '80 I guess, I was about 13...

"My" first guitar is this '90 RG770. Christmas gift of the same year:

Took it on the bus my last 2 years of hight school. Played it in the jazz band.

Just had it Plek'd and polished recently. Needs new frets soon. Plays wonderful.

I became interested in the guitar with my brothers Cort LP copy.

for me, it was a corona cali fender strat. i was 9 years old and had been struggling with my dads enormous guild d-40 acoustic for a while, so for my 10th birthday, my parents picked me up a classic black & white american strat with a maple fingerboard and a fender champ 110 amp. 19 years later, i still have the guitar, only i have outfitted it to resemble david gilmour's black-on-black strat complete with fender '69/fat 50's/duncan ssl loaded pickguard and neck pickup toggle switch. looks and sounds just as sweet as ever.

so what started YOU on the road to musicianship (and, for some of us, gear whore-ship)?

My older brothers 1972 fender strat. Found it under the basement stairs in 1984. Loved the F out of that guitar. Sold it like a total dumbass in 1998 and have been looking for it ever since.....

First guitar, was a Stella Harmony acoustic. It was my dad's. Still have it, action is high, but I have no plans to part with it.

First electric was a '93 Fender MIM strat. I used it in my Senior pictures in HS. Still have it, but have done a bunch of changes since new. New pickups, new pots, new cap, new 5way switch, push pull pot for 2nd tone, new saddles, and additional string tree. Its on sunburst one on the left with the hot rails in the bridge.

The first I can remember owning was a Jackson Dinky Reverse Pro, maple fretboard with black and white granite/splatter finish. I really wish I still had it, it was apparently a lot more rare than I knew. I've only seen a couple online.

First guitar was in 3rd grade for christmas.. Flamenco guitar..

9th grade I then got a Kramer Focus 1000...

Some weird shit Kramer did. I guess to get more boom out of the low end. I was playing it through a Dean Markley practice amp with an 8in speaker, and a DOD overdive fx50. I knew nothing of what good tone should sound like.

My first electric was an El Degas Les Paul copy which I used and abused!

I remember hearing how Eddy dipped his pickups in wax to stop the squealing as the stockers squealed like a mother.

Well...being young and Naive and not know my arse from the hole in the ground....I took the pickups out and dipped the whole covered unit into a melted down candle.

Jesus what I dumb back then......could have simply put in a couple of Dimarzio Super distortions and been done with it!

I think my first acoustic was called a Cosmo acoustic. I still have it!
