Used Harmony strat-copy. Needless to say, it was a p.o.s.

My first electric was an El Degas Les Paul copy which I used and abused!

I remember hearing how Eddy dipped his pickups in wax to stop the squealing as the stockers squealed like a mother.

Well...being young and Naive and not know my arse from the hole in the ground....I took the pickups out and dipped the whole covered unit into a melted down candle.

Jesus what I dumb back then......could have simply put in a couple of Dimarzio Super distortions and been done with it!

I think my first acoustic was called a Cosmo acoustic. I still have it!

Thats some funny shit there, love it

1989 American Standard Strat. Still my first Guitar in every context.

I had a white Arbor explorer. Did a lot of posing in front of the mirror with that one!

This was my first electric guitar. I still have my first guitar, a classical Hofner.

My first guitar and me holding it way back when (Harmony baby)...

My first good guitar way back when I got it (1979 silverburst that my grandma bought for me used around 1985 and I still own it and cherish it to this day)...

Is that a Mesa MKIII combo? Play any Joan Jett ;)

1979 Lotus Les Paul Copy. Maroon. Man, I played that thing into the ground. I thought it was the greatest guitar. Hehe. I loved it

1980 Yamaha FG 340 acoustic (still have it) and a Peavey T-15 with amp in the case.

Began with an H I think....maybe a T...was a Strat copy with a really nice sunburst..had I realized you could get better/different pickups back in the day, I would still have it.

Sold a BBC Micro Model B, ROMs and Disc Drive to get it...and still had change after buying one of them Squier 15W amps too :-)

1st guitar was a Fender Squire Bullet....made in Japan.
Bought it brand new for $199 from working at a local machine shop cleaning up steel chips when I was in the 8th grade.
This was back maybe....1984 or 85....it was a hazy time. :D

Right after my Man here...

Mine was a Absolutely Beauitful Gibson Les Paul Deluxe Cherry Burst. Stunning!

Got it from Mannys Music on 48th street. I remember I didn't like the first one they brought down, and the guy just could tell I was Neurotic   and brought down
All 17 of them they had in stock, laid them out on the counter, and opened all the cases... This one was just IT!!!

I remember not liking that much when I was a kid cause it didn't have "Big" pickups...

Like the 16 year old FOOL I was I sold it to buy a Hurst Shifter for my Camaro Z-28.

OMG - I curse myself for doing that!!

What I wouldn't give to have that guitar back.

Roid

for me, it was a corona cali fender strat. i was 9 years old and had been struggling with my dads enormous guild d-40 acoustic for a while, so for my 10th birthday, my parents picked me up a classic black & white american strat with a maple fingerboard and a fender champ 110 amp. 19 years later, i still have the guitar, only i have outfitted it to resemble david gilmour's black-on-black strat complete with fender '69/fat 50's/duncan ssl loaded pickguard and neck pickup toggle switch. looks and sounds just as sweet as ever.

so what started YOU on the road to musicianship (and, for some of us, gear whore-ship)?

My 1st was a CSB Hohner Les Paul Custom Copy w/ Gibson PAF pu's, 1st amp was a Fender Princeton Reverb. (this was back in '78)

What started me was-- I come from a family of musicians, so I followed suit (got bit by the bug early on, when my cousin Mark aka Kaleiwahea or billybogner, would come over to the house for the weekends and teach me chords).

Ibanez RG 370 DX here. A very nice guitar that I still have (as my only not hardtail), but it needs new pickups. It plays very well, I wish Ibanez made more RG hardtails.

1974 Les Paul Custom. Bought it for $450 in 1988. God, I wish I still had the guitar. It was such a great guitar.

My first was some no name black strat copy. It sucked. The first guitar I bought for myself was a cheap red/orange Jackson

Ibanez Destroyer... metallic red, neck through or set neck, bought it used in 1984. Had it for maybe 6 months for trading it in on the first of many Charvels. Just like everybody else... I wish I could have it back today. I would buy another one just like it, if I could find one.

A T-60 or something like that that a kid at school sold to me for $10 so he could go buy some weed.
