yeah well I've heard that your amps come out pretty friggin nice sounding ..

I bought a cab off a guy over in Mass near Boston awhile back.. we shot the shit for a bit and he raved about the 3 Peters he had . I have yet the pleasure of playing or hearing one in person .

i like the Duncan Distortion...however, unlike James i dont hear any of the quack that he does...i hear that in the JB though. the Distortion seems to be fuller and fatter, while still having plenty of cut. compared to an 81 (which i have in most of my other guitars LOL) the Distortion is rounder on the bottom, more open sounding, a grainier texture to distortion tones (where as the EMGs seem to have a glassier sheen to the top), and are still very articulate with lots of gain, and have about the same output as the 81's (i can plug my EBMM with the distortion in and all i really have to do is cut some bass).

I don't even understand how that's possible. Cut, yes. But fuller and fatter? That is the JB, not the Distortion. And if anything that's the JB's downfall; because it pushes so many frequencies so hard, if your guitar happens to sound bright or flubby or midrangey, the JB just runs with whatever resonant spike your guitar has already (which can be good or bad in various ways). The Distortion has an upper mid focus that's undeniable, and it's a more modern (more "beamy" but less "full") sounding pickup overall. That isn't to say the Distortion "can't sound full" in a guitar, but comparatively speaking the JB has more fatness for certain.

You have to compare them back to back in the same guitar to know this though (or in my case, doing that but with several guitars over the years :)).
