Actually this is what I'm most interested in atm:

front.jpg

I got to play one in Kyle's room and it was a freakin nice amp! I love how gainy it is but still very clear, not mushy at all. One mode seemed like it had a built in sustainer - it just sings! It has a lot of options too for a two channel amp, which made it seem like it's a 4-channel amp. Kyle was really cool to hang out with as well.

Did you guys hear the thrasher? It would get lost in the mix so quickly....

Also noisy and no dynamics, low articulation.

It was easily the biggest disappointment of the show for me.

The Schecter was ugly as hell in person. Sound wasn't bad.

I did not hear the Rhodes so I can't comment on that one. Looks a million times better than the Schecter.

My personal favorites were the ASG Hybris and the Bogner Atma. I heard the Atma through a vertical 2x12 cab, not its own. Not sure how its cab sounds. It does not sound like a crappy lunch box amp.

The ASG Hybris was raw- lots of dynamics. Much brighter than my 5150. It also had a huge tight low end. I put my Mark V on Craigslist after playing. I used 2 different guitars- one with SD Passover and one with EMGs. Very nice clean channel with either, however you can turn the gain up for dirt if that's your thing.

Just my thoughts.

There's a clear difference between the vids, but in that environment, how the amps are eq'd, factors into the sound. I'd like to hear the Randall with more mids and a different mic position. Schecter did sound mean.

I walked past the Randall booth every chance I could and it only got slightly better than that one time. It would slay in your bedroom for high gain über metal... Once in a band it would vanish like a fart in the wind.

I am a Randall fan boi. Had an RM50 for a few years back. I was really looking forward to it. It was a a sad weekend.

Schecter was not worth the price even if you factor out the ugly looks,

ASG Hybris for right under a grand. Safe bet what I will be getting one later this year.

The Atma was pretty slick and the D'Moll was great, just not 3K great. If one pops up used I will be all over it.

As far as I am concerned I waited all year for ONE thing and it finally released, it's a total game changer and it SHOULD be at the top of everyone's list.

The fishman triple play.

Had to go to google to see what this was.....my mind is fucking blown!!! WILL OWN THIS!!

I really want to get ahold of a Randall thrasher...
only time I have had any interest in anything Randall. lol

Friedman get's my vote for creative names for stuff he releases, STFU! That's just too funny.

I am as immature as any grown man selling items to other grown men should ever be and I still

I don't think it takes much creativity to name your amps from the dictionary of toilet humor.

Why? Because you weren't there?

I love Randall and always have. It was a let down for me. No mids, articulation, dynamics. Just a high gain amp.

Did I play it myself- no. Did I hear others play it over 25 times? Yup. I was hoping it was the way they had it EQ'd. It wasn't.

It's my informed opinion after hearing it over 2 dozen times.

EDIT: It wasn't horrible by any means- just a let down. Maybe I made it sound worse than what it is.

The Diavlo series looks pretty damn cool. I want one of those.

I hate Schecter and I can't rag on that amp except for looks and price.

It's just owning a Fortin amp, and playing other Fortin amps that lends me to disagree. I find they are very dynamic amps, as well as articulated. It never gets lost in any mix I've heard them in, and I play in a band who has two other guitarist, a bassist, a drummer, a vocalist, and backing tracks. Never one time gets loss, and as a matter of fact, it cuts through effortlessly.

I can't comment much on the guys you observed playing on them, because I've never heard most of them with exception of Jason, and that guy's tone is very tight, articulated, and dynamic.

Thats all I'm saying, if its a Fortin designed amp, I can without a doubt state that its a bad mofo. Just depends if you are into the kind of snarl that his work is known from. May or may not be your kind of thing, but I and several others would agree that his work is known for very "dynamic", diverse, and "articulated" as hell. It's not a tone that is for everyone. But to describe it as; Quote-"would get lost in the mix so quickly....,noisy and no dynamics, low articulation..., in a band it would vanish like a fart in the wind"-UnQuote; Is so far removed from the truth that it is hilarious.

Ok. So you have heard other amps designed by him. Thats a start.

I heard it in person- and gathered my opinion from that. The Randall players were all exceptional guitarists. Now I must say I have NOT heard it in a band situation so I should hold my final judgement from that.

It really sounds like you think I am attacking the amp maker. I am not. I was sharing my thoughts on the amp, and even posted clips I recorded. Obviously at NAMM they have noise police so they couldn't have it up too loud.

Maybe different speakers could change the draw back that I don't like. I will still check one out when they are for sale.

They were like leaches shutting the good people down.

Just so we are clear- volume was not the issue I had with it. Speakers may help it sit better in a mix but I doubt it will change the note definition.
