So What's The Verdict On Guitar Wall Hangers?

Mount to a stud on wall and hope no idiot whacks it with a mike stand or something. Also earthquakes if you live in Cali. Nitro finish will sometime react funny to the rubber hooks where it hangs. Just a bad idea all around.

Better to use a stand or Ultracase GSX.

You don't need to mount it to a stud if you use the appropriate drywall anchors. For those with nitro finishes, just use a towel between the neck and the hanger. My wall hangers were mounted to drywall anchors, and it held my 11 lb LP just fine. I recommend the "Off the Wall" guitar hangers.

Mounting to a stud won't be a problem and none of my guitars have nitro finishes. Also, I live near Chicago, so earthquakes are something I hopefully don't have to worry about, although we had a very minor one last year or the year before

My main concern is the weight of the guitar constantly pulling down on the headstock/neck and any ill effects related to that. Really, I'm mostly worried about my LP which comes in around 10 lbs.

I have had all my guitars hanging for years now...no ill effects. Also, I tend to play all of them now whereas when they were all in cases, I would tend to only play those that were sitting on stands. Having kids, I can't have 8-10 guitars on stands in the basement...it would be bowling for guitars before long!

I've hung mine for years with no problems. Guitar stores hang them. I love having mine hanging in the living room. Kids don't knock them off the stands. When I'm watching tv, I just grab one off the wall. If they were in the case, they wouldn't get played as much.

I just hung mine last spring and so far so good. Even my LP. No problems at all. And it looks cool!!

I hung all my guitars on the wall at our last house (for about 3 years) and never had a problem.

I can't agree more.

ive had some of my guitars hanging for over 3 years and i never had any probs.
some are nitro and i usually take a polish cloth and cut a piece off and put it on the hanger.

The only thing I would recommend is that you don't hang them near a window where the sunlight hits the guitar. On LP's it will fade the shit out of them.

i agree

I've always had an unfounded fear of hanging guitars by their neck for some reason...personally I like the cushioned row stands, they make me feel like a pimp :)
