Thanks. Believe me, it got a lot more use once I re-purposed it.

You know you're a fanboy when you and your friend, both obsessed with Warren DeMartini in 1985, paint your country guitar with F-holes that you got as a 10 year old, into Warren's "Crossed Swords" guitar. LOL. Oh, and you start wearing eyeliner and shopping for scarves in the women's section because you want to look like him in the "You're in Love" video.
I was a huge DeMartini fan as well. Invasion of Your Privacy had some amazing guitar tones (as did their other albums). Was listening to Detonator this past weekend and it had been awhile and his tone was monstrous on that too.

you get the band's emblem below tattooed on your shoulder and defend their albums Load and Reload, clamming they're still the same band they were 20 years earlier

True Story.
Mind you I still really like those albums.

Sweet man. You should post a pic of that. I'd love to see it. Cool design nonetheless. My tattoo was actually the reason I made this thread. Personally I really like Load with Reload being my fav of the two. I definitely understand why a lot of people don't like it - but I don't care. It's not Master of Puppets but it has its own place in history.

WOW, that's dedication. I saw them in concert about 7 or 8 years ago with The Offspring. Great show, cloud of smoke.
They brought The Offspring out again this past year in 2018. They played really well actually. Clouds of smoke are still present

That is dedication man!! I was stationed in Omaha back in the 90s, and I remember how we were all proud something came out of there musically. :) Then Slipknot came out of Iowa next door.
Yeah, kinda neat that they are from that area. My family traces back to a homestead in NB.

I'm also a pretty big Slipknot fan. Not sure on a Knot tat though.

311's last album 'Mosaic' is pretty damn good imo. Here is a heavier song. If it is not for you at least skip to 3:00 min mark or so and listen to break down and outro. :D

Here is a funny story: I used to be a pretty big fan of 311 back in the day. My younger cousin really really got into them, so I gave him some 311 cd's to take home and a 311 Transistor shirt. My aunt (crazy lunatic nut) calls my mom the next day screaming "WHY DID YOU LET YOUR SON GIVE MY SON THESE RACIST CDS AND CLOTHES? COME GET THEM NOW!!" Someone at her church informed her that 311 stood for "3 of the 11th letter in the alphabet...so "KKK".

As a 14 year old, I calmly explained to my mom that 311 is probably the most peace loving, accept everyone, positive band that was around. I showed her some lyrics and songs. About 2 weeks later my mom was driving around listening to 311 and explained my aunt was just crazy.

That was a great song! I've always liked their vibe and the lead singer's voice. As far as Slipknot goes, I've been a fan of theirs since 99' and for the life of me can't understand it. LOL. I'm nearing 50 and like most people, thought I'd "grow out" of certain music but something about that band keeps me hooked. The new song "All Out Life" is awesome!

^^ Yeah, 311 is all about the Unity. I remember hearing that kkk reference back in the late 90's and it didn't take long at all to realize they have absolutely nothing to do with that.

^ I remember hearing 'Down' on the radio and thought it was a cool tune. I went to the store and ended up buying Transistor out of curiosity. I couldn't find 'Down' on that album obviously but Transistor blew me away. It was so different and out there.

I've been to maybe 50 shows now including many '311 Day' events in Vegas and NOLA and 1-311 Cruise that went to Jamaica and back (super good time). I'm to Colo next month for 2 back to back shows.

Slipknot on the other hand is a little different LOL. I'm still pretty new to them. I have seen them twice in concert. Pretty intense. Despite their appearance, music and lyrics - they are more positive in their overall message than most people want to admit. I now have all of their albums and some of it is not for me but they are a relatively new guilty pleasure. I will try to catch them on this Fall tour and their new album. You saw Chris Fehn was removed?

^ But yeah - we are the same age. I remember when I was younger (20s-30s) I assumed that as I got older I would get 'softer' musically. You know, spend more time listening to my Beatles records and John Denver and shit. The opposite has occurred and I'm OK with that.

...when I was able to recite the original album, album side, year of release, and track number of *every* Stones song (and they were before my time!!).

...am still able to tell you what album the specific Frank Zappa song came from, who was in the band at that time, and the nuances of the rendition of the specific tune/song being played. And I knowing the lyrics to every song - including the back-talk slapstick humour that's going on almost non-stop in all their live performances.
