Solar power was the European Union's largest source of electricity for the first time in June, overtaking nuclear and wind while coal's contribution fell to an all-time low, data from energy think tank Ember showed on Thursday.

Solar generated 22.1 per cent of the EU's electricity last month, up from 18.9 per cent a year earlier, as record sunshine and continued solar installations pushed output to 45.4 terawatt hours. Nuclear followed closely at 21.8 per cent and wind contributed 15.8 per cent of the mix.

At least 13 EU countries, including Germany, Spain and the Netherlands, recorded highest-ever monthly solar generation, Ember said.

I’m getting solar once I can talk a company into replacing my roof for free with it

Solar would be difficult in the US where you have building materials that only last 20 years. 20 years is what a medieval thatched roof lasts too.

Reliability has enhanced dramatically in the US grid with the majority of renewable energy in Texas, despite President Donald Trump's assertions that solar and wind power are detrimental to the grid, according to Reuters.

The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), the state's main grid operator, has reported significant improvements in grid reliability and lower electricity prices compared to the national average.

The Texas renewable energy grid has demonstrated resilience and cost-effectiveness, challenging Trump's claims that the rapid adoption of solar and wind power leads to instability and high electricity costs.

According to regulatory filings and price data, the US state, which has the most renewable energy in its grid, has seen improved reliability and below-average electricity prices.

ERCOT forecasts a mere 0.30% chance of rolling blackouts during peak energy demand in August, a stark contrast to the 12% chance predicted for August 2024.

I'm sure you are really worried about all those white muslims out there...
I'm pretty sure it's the fundamentalist orthodox Muslims no one wants around. They tend to be problematic. You know, blowing shit up over a cartoon and what not. I'm not sure how you guys can hold Christians to one standard and not Muslims.

Fundamentalists of any religion are a problem..

Religion itself is the root of most of our problems. Secular society makes much more sense.

How do you go about that ? The talking a company into replacing your roof for free part.
I get door to door people like once a week trying to sell me on “free panels”
Basically the install and equipment is free to me, they get all the electricity I make, and sell it back to me cheaper than my supplier.

Everytime I say I’ll do it if they replace my shingles first and then they don’t call me back lol.
They will eventually though, I have a perfect house for it. Zero shade and very little power usage, so I’m sure someone will make a bunch of money off me eventually.

I started looking into solar and where I live you can’t have solar on the front of your house.

My house is considered to be on a corner, so that considered “two fronts” even though my house is four or more acres away from the corner.

Wanting solar facing south, unfortunately my house faces south. My large barn roof is east-west facing.

So now I basically have to put 36-40 panels on the ground to make up my 400 amp service.

String trimming already takes me roughly 90 minutes. Weeds growing up around it would drive my OCD over the edge.

That's infuriating. I would challenge that bylaw in court.
