I’m honestly not sure if the front of my house roof (southern facing) would be large enough for that many panels?
My friends who install panels say they often put them on East and West facing roofs, and the production is only down a few percent.

According to Erik the Red it was only 7-10 years.
I'm trying to decide which is more of an eye sore; open pit coal mine OR acres and acres of solar panels.
You're trying to decide? Lol. Plants and livestock can grow and thrive in a solar farm. A coal mine poisons everything around it.
Oh no, a solar spill! We got....sunshine everywhere!

Your country exports a hell of a lot of coal. In fact it's a financial bedrock to your energy independence.

In 2023, New Zealand's coal exports were valued at approximately $36 million USD.
In comparison, we exported over $11 billion worth of milk powder and cheese.
So, yeah, nah. Not a big export at all.

I still can't get over the fact that "panels you point at sky and make electricity from sunlight with no fuel is the cheapest source of energy" needed explanation
