I've had the Avenger, and now I've got an SLO. Both amps are badass, but I give the nudge to the SLO. Although both supposedly have the same preamp, the SLO has more sparkle and chime, more sizzle. It's got a more complex tone going on. The Avenger is no slouch though. If I played in a straight up metal band, I'd take the Avenger over the SLO. It's darker and has a wider bottom end, although compared to the SLO I'd say the Avenger has a more generic tone. The SLO's tone is very unique. Nothing else sounds like it, not even SLO clones, IMHO. The Avenger's tone really reminded me of if a really good Dual Rectifier and a smoother 5150 had a baby. The SLO reminds me of a cross between a raging Hiwatt and a Mesa Mark series amp.
