I don't know if they're "all that," but they are what you make it. I went to a guy's house to buy his GTO pedal and we hooked it up to a Marshall JCM800 head through a 1960 vintage cab. I really liked the overdrive and sustain of the pedal. It's very thick sounding and I personally think it sounded incredible through the Marshall. It won't make your amp sound like an SLO, but it does have that Soldano thing going on. The distortion is rich. Very nice.
Unfortunately he wanted like $450 and I wasn't willing to pay that much when they can be found every now and then for about $300. Admittedly, I was tempted but I held out for a better deal. Eventually the GAS faded and I never ended up buying one. I will, however, buy one if I see a great deal on Ebay or something.
