As far as I know (which is very little...), the Warren Haynes Mod on an SLO was simply clipping the bright cap on the volume control, yes?
I just got an HR25 and was wanting less "fizz" at lower pre-amp setting of the overdrive channel (like, 4 or less). Would that work on this amp too?

I haven't seen that mode HR yet, but if it's like the others yes, clipping it will get rid of fizz at low volumes.

Thanks Jerry. I just can't leave anything alone. I know the SLO Overdrive is Legendary and all that (former SLO owner here), but they really could have built this with two "Normal" channels and had a winner.

*edit* Hmm...maybe not.

The 470p cap right behind the pot. I would unsolder one side and lift it out. That way you can put it back if you don't like it.

I like having a switch to go back and forth, preferably a 3-way so I can have stock-no cap-another value in between. But this is based on the SLO (mine is a clone) not the HR25. When I removed that cap it would get muddy pretty fast as I increased the gain. IIRC, the bright cap on the SLO is .001uF and my in-between value is 470p.

I’m guessing it’s a 1ma pot HR25 and the SLO uses a 500ka. If this is the case then both caps will give you the same effect.

I had an HR25, nice amp not loud enough for my band. gone now.
