Finally got all the pieces together. Dave modded the X99 for me. :D

I agree, this rig is completely sexual in nature. I had an SP-77 in the early '90s and LUSTED after the high-end stuff to the max. Too bad I was young and poor.

Here's a YouTube of someone running the x99 through a variety of settings. The motorized knobs are too cool!!!

That's a beast of a rig. Sure it sounds great. I've always wanted to pick up a X99.

Plain and simple. You just have to much money. Good for you.

Dave, any idea if Mike might start to reissue some of the rack stuff again? Seems like there would be a market for it.

Well he'll do it, but it's too much $. Unless he does a big run to have the parts machined. And that's not gonna happen. I heard $7,500 for an amp. He doesn't even want to really do it. He said he doesn't want to charge that much. So, right now probably just one off stuff.

You can never have too much $.

I just don't have kids. This rack is just one set of braces. ;)

I guess shouldn't tell you I have the exact same rig in Purple as well...

That is so cool Dave.
I'm realllllllllllllly happy for you!

No jealousy; I have plenty of Soldano gear. But I will admit that I did turn Dave onto it.

That has got to be the coolest thing I've seen or heard. Are you kidding me?

this could not be truer. and I'm the one that my parents spent the set of braces on, and I'm going into dentistry for that matter!

Wow that's awesome! And sounds great too, reminds me of my MarkIV when running through some decent speakers (not V30s...).

I can't wait to see the triple red Soldanos in action

Absolutely killer! I take it you're going to run this in a W/D/W setup?
Is the X99 original or did you have the red faceplate made for it?

The original idea was a W/D/W rig. But I might use the X99 and Stereo power amp as a small self contained stereo rig. I have a red G-system that I might use on the floor with this and it's good to go.

I have a black SLOr that Mike built with a Hiwatt DR103 front end that I am thinking of using with the red SLOr. Using an amp switcher, and slaving those into a VHT Classic as another stereo rig. Using a TC 2290 and PCM 70, rack wah - for a more elaborate rig. Maybe even using a Faustine Phantom to attenuate for a dry signal, and using the VHT for wet. Not sure yet.

I have a 3rd rig with 2 Bogner Fish and a VHT Classic.

I have a another SLOr (purple), an X88 and mono SM100r that I might use as 2 separate smaller rigs as well. Maybe a pedal board with the head. Just depends what works for different venues.

The red SLOr was a custom build Mike did for me. The red X99 plate was a thing Mike did for me when he did the power amp. The face plate started off purple. Friedman modded the X99 for me. The power amp started off as a mono SM100r that had a black face plate and was pretty beat up.

I know Mike did a stereo power amp for Lou Reed as well (purple). No others out there that he remembered, but you never know...
