heard a clip which Todd duane did for his soldano SLO 100 and it was amazing !

i wonder if there are any difference in the newer to the older ones ? any revision which Mike Soldano did... and which is the best revision in terms from being a rock amp as well as nice clear high gain usage ?

one thing i know there been a big price diff among many SLO 100 ...mods? revisions ? please educate me soldano users ?

Very early models (I forget the year, '87 I think) had a different pcb layout. Some had no crunch switch, I think too. Since then, there have been various component changes. The only one I've played was an '88, so I can't comment on sonic differences.

The "mods" (depth knob, bright switch, mid scoop on the normal channel, loop bypass, etc) do tend to make the amp more expensive. But most of the price variation is just that people's asking prices are all over the place. If I were buying a head, I wouldn't bother with the mods and would look to pay between $2-2.5k.

Love all of them! Every one I've played new or old just slays..

maybe i wanna try getting an SLO clone diy... any advice ?

If you want an SLO, save up your coin and get one. Not a clone, or an HR 100. Get the real deal. Because the others just aren't the same. Just like the previous post, 2-2.5k should buy you a used one.

Nothing different. They're as badass as they ever were. Gear always seems to get a little sweeter over time after the electronics have seen some wear, so if there are any differences, it's probably going to be barely audible.

Agreed. I would only do a clone if you enjoy building. That's what I did. However, I've played an SLO side by side with my clone since I built it and there really is very little difference. But a clone will cost you the same as a used real one. So no point in building one. Again, unless you enjoy building.

Rob @ C3 is great. That's where I got most of my parts. My build thread is around somewhere too if you need help along the way. If it's your first build, though, I would either do a ton of research first or start with something less complicated like a Fender Champ or Marshall or something.
