Soldano SLO 100 vs Lenz Octane modded 2203 - Death Metal - Blindtest

Love how heavy & aggressive A is but B is much clearer & I think it would cut better in a mix.. Are these raw or did you process the signals at all?

First I listened on my phone. Then my laptop. Then thru Yamaha HS8s.
Difference is negligible.
Honestly, no one will hear a difference between those 2 clips in a normal listening situation.
Being persnickety, maybe less mids and more high end energy on A, maybe a bit smoother/thicker on B.
The difference is so minimal, no one would notice if this wasn't presented as an A vs B scenario.
If I had to choose, I'd say B, due to the very slightly fuller sound.

Great job if your goal was to dial them in as close as possible. Success.

Thanks.
I wasn't really trying to make them sound the same. It happened more like naturally within a few minutes.

Both sound great and pretty close. I lean towards A for the added upper mid clank, but would be delighted with either and can see how others would lean towards B.

Before I read any of the comments I will say that the second (B) clip was either not cutting as well but more likely the levels were not matched as I got a slight volume drop for lack of a better way of saying it. I'm not familiar with these two amps to know which was which. If the Marshall was unmodded, I'd say the SLO was first (A).
