Any love for the slo 100 here? I like the 80's stuff lynch etc and I never got a chance to hear one except for clips. I am basically a hotrodded marshall tone guy, as I tried a ton of other high gain amps and I keep comming back to marshalls especially my hg jose cameron. I am keeping the cameron but looking for something to go with it that has a clean channel. What do you guys think?

Nice amp, esp. for lead.
For clean I'd use something else like a Roland/Fender/Hiwatt/ . . . but if you have the chance to try one, you'll probably like the clean (better than me).

They seem to be really smooth for great lead tones but what about crunchy riffs? ex: Ratt lay it down etc...

Love the slo. Always one in the arsenal for tracking purposes. Check the music in my sig for heavy SLO stuff. The tones aren't 100% perfect, but in the song Ben's Blue Coat and New Shoes it's SLO on the right, Uberschall on the left.

The cleans in New Shoes were done with the SLO.

What do you mean by 80's Lynch stuff? The Tooth And Nail album was recorded with Randall amps. Under Lock And Key was with a Marshall, the purple one that he borrowed. And I'm almost 99% sure that he used Marshall's on all of Back For The Attack.

I have an interview with Lynch and he mentioned that he used an SLO for only 1 section of the song River Of Love on the first Lynch Mob album, he used a ton of amps at that time.

He used all kinds of stuff but he still sounded the same. He even sounded the same when he used Recto's.

I owned 7-8 SLO's since '92 Sold my first to Ray Gomez in '92.
Had stock, modded, etc.
The best ones were stock with KT-66's.

The Clean is great. The key is turning the preamp on the clean channel UP.

Great example of the SLO cleans here w/ Clapton and Knopfler-

carl and I rarely agree, but here we are in 100% agreement. Stock with KT-66 is the way to go!

Here's a pic of my SLO100. It's from 1991 and has all the mods available for it. IMO, the Depth control is essential to give the SLO the balance it needs.

Same as all the well known musicians that switch amps all the time. Tone is in the hands and fingers so the amp used is irrelevant. I remember watching Yngwie once playing thru a roc-pro amp and he sounded exactly the same. Years later I caught Eric Johnson using a freaking subway rocket in a clinic here in Vegas, sounded the same. I think lynch used alot of the ada mp1 on Back For The Attack. That cocksucker uses everything though, I've walked into stores where they were setting up for him and I've seen DSL100s, Randall, Vetta. He uses everything and always sounds the same..why wouldn't he sound the same?

Are there still ancient Sumerians living these days that don't believe tone is in the fingers? Or is this a newer trend to think tone comes from gear?  :D
