OP,

Instead of asking this here, on TGP, and the Soldano forum, why don't you pick up the phone and call Soldano?

:jerkit:

"Hello Mike?, yeah I was wondering if you could give a total production break down so I can see what your cost per component is?"

Let me know how that works out.

Parts cost = probably less than $1k.

Build cost = ????

I wonder what would happen if Soldano dropped the price of the SLO to around $2k-$2.3k street? The sales would probably skyrocket, IMO.

However, that means volume would have to go up, too. If Mikey likes where he's at, that's prob. all that matters. Nobody is buying a new
one because of the $3500+ tag when you can get a used one for more than $1k less than that.
I dont think that sales would skyrocket, I would bet at best sales would stay the same. With high end gear with musicians there is a cork sniffer attitude(sometimes justified} that equates that high cost or rarity equals Best tone. If soldano slo were affordable at every gc and the market flooded much of the misteek would be gone. Kind of like when high end clothing is liscensed out to every mall and not just a boutique thing it becomes out of style as it is now for the common folk. Sometimes with high end gear, its a smart business move to keep production levels just enough and keep the price high as it makes it more disireable to many.

You make some good points. But if I could buy a new SLO for $2k, I would.

The other point to think about is what would that do to used SLO sales? Owners would not be happy.
