The market - Supply and Demand - answers that question.

Well if you put it up for sale in Europe it would be snapped up fairly quickly!
2nd hand SLO's dont tend to survive very long out here ;)
You could kinda look at it like renting an amp for a while and you should get your investment back should you tire of it!

If you buy them new and decide to sell later you lose quite a bit. I don't know why people say they have good resale value. If I were to sell my SLO which I paid $4400 with taxes I would probably be down $2K from a $2400-$2500 sale also minus the shipping and guess what..u lose!

That goes for almost all gear bought new and sold used right now though. Unless you bought a Gibson/Fender/Marshall in the 50s and 60s, odds are you lost money on your "investment". Axe-Fx seems to buck that trend every time a new release comes out, but only for a very short time.

Not in Europe. Here you could buy one new for 3600€ and sell for about 2800-3000€.

Not anymore, I have seen 3-4 go for less than 2500 the past couple of months.
And I still didn't buy one

Luckily, I didn't see them :)

I am from Slovakia (central Europe). there is a huge shop in Czech Republic just around the corner who sells the SLO 100 for 2600e new. No kidding, this is a legitimate shop. Just thought I might give some of the EU guys heads up. cheers and have a good weekend guys

Totally depends on the player. For me, it's not worth the price...actually it would be if I was going for that lead sound that only the SLO can provide, but there are a lot of other amps I'd buy first. Every time I play a SLO I am impressed, but I don't leave the shop craving one. The SLO to me is one of those novelty amps that I would only buy if I got a killer deal or if I had cash to burn. It doesn't cover a lot of bases (at least not for me). Killer lead tone though, no doubt. Especially when it's gets some volume behind it!

It's one of the few amps out there in this world which has been imitated, but never duplicated.

It's a unique sounding amp, and there's something to be said about that in today's world of modern high gainers, modelers, and the like. Whether or not this is the amp for you? Only several hours of hamfistin' it will tell. But if you've done your research, you've done your "do I like the tone of the artists who use this amp", and you play that kinda music; more than likely - yes.

NO!!!!! BOTTOM LINE!
I'll say it and I don't give a shit. :gethim:
$2300-$2500 is a very reasonable Used
Market price, not the Inflated $3000-$3300
that I've been seeing lately.
I've owned the SLO before and it is a
Fantastic Amp but not @ the 3k plus
used prices.

I can't believe the used prices these days. I sold mine for a lot less, with more mods than ones on the market today. For me, it doesn't cover all the bases, but the lead tone is extraordinary. Couldn't justify it.

If gives you the tone that you've been seeking then in my opinion it is worth the price. New prices are steep, I'd never pay that for an amp I'd buy used and let other people take the depreciation hit between new and used prices.

The used SLO is worth it. I had one and regret selling it. I will probably get another one.

That said, if you can't crank it up loud once in a while, you will be missing the best part of the amp. With the MV at 4, loud as flaming hell.... It is almost magical in the searing crunch.

For a bedroom player where you can't crank it, there are probably better amps but even low it is still good.

There are a few for sale here now. The dual lead models would be awesome.

On a side note... don't even consider an SLO unless you can play it at healthy volumes. It is not a bedroom/apt amp imho. My 2 cents.

Check out a Diaz 212 combo. I heard Warren Haynes play Cortez the killer and thought it was a Slo, turned out to be the Diaz. Amazing tone and cleans up when you play light or roll the volume back. I would like a SLO but it seems limited
