What are they worth and where do I get one?

I've got 3. They are really hard to find. I think if you found one under $2.5K you'd better get it fast - I know at least 10 people who would buy it it instantly at that price. I found one on Ebay for $1,400 buy it now price - got lucky on that. The last 2 before that were one I saw in France that went for $3K+ and one in Australia for $3K+ as well. Maybe 1-2 a year for sale. At least that I can find, and I look several times a day. Everyday. LOL

I just sent one to Soldano to have it made stereo with EL34s. A little different flavor then the other 2 SMs I have. More like a VHT Classic. Great amps, but too collectable for Soldano guys to make it a cost effective amp for most. It's much easier to find the SLOr.

Hey Diver!

I had a feeling I would be hearing from you on this one, as you appear to be the resident "Soldano junkie"!

Yeah, prices like those basically make these power amps museum pieces! It would be a pretty steep amount to sink into an amp I would be hauling off to mostly club dates.

That being said, make sure you let me know the minute you are looking to sell one - I'm there!

Cheers,

Rob

I just love the Red SLO-R!!!!

I call it the "Who the F*CK is David Turner" Edition!!!!

ROCK ON BRUDDA!!!!! :D

I have a Soldano SM-100R that was packed up in 2005 and has sat ever since. It was re-discovered after a couple moves. I am trying to figure out it's value.

If you are interested in selling please let me know. Thanks, david (909) 773-2163

I have a few inquiries sent around to some parties to estimate it's value. I have also asked Soldano directly.
I would say my SM-100R is a 9 or higher out of 10 condition. The only issue being that the tubes were changed by the owner before me but last time I contacted Soldano in 2005 they told me that was not a problem and the tubes could be changed back to the original type.

I'd think in todays market $2800 or thereabouts.
They were going for $3000 but they are uncommon.

I was thinking it is worth a lot more. I'll wait until I hear back from some other inquiries. I don't use it at all. I bought it way back when I wanted to learn how to play guitar and have never really pursued it. It doesn't cost me anything to keep stored in the box.

I think you are mistaken. I follow the Soldano gear carefully and for years.
About 3 years ago I looked for about 18 months before I found an SM100r. Since the economy has tanked they are now showing up every 6 months or so. They were not selling for more than $3200 during GOOD TIMES if I recall correctly.

Surf Box has dropped from ~$4000 to ~ $2500. Used SLOs can now be had for $2400 or even less if you are patient.
