Since I'm on a roll now with simple phone recordings   ,
here's the Mesa Boogie DC-5 (rev B), both unboosted and with a Ibanez TSMini boosting it, true a Marshall 1966B 2x12 (T75 and V30).

Graphic EQ is on all the time (heavy V setting). I'm running the Bass on the channel EQ lowish (3.5/10) but as you'll hear, it's still quite flubby until you boost it.

Clean + distorted, rhythm and a little bit of lead (TC Alter Ego V2 delay in Space Echo Mode)

A bit more moderate volume (no longer neighbour-annoying):

The almost Recto-ish boom becomes less prominent once you crank the volume, but this thing is so damn loud, I'm running the Channel volumes around 2 (/10), just like the Master Output volume. But it's quite saturated, especially in the low-mids.

The tail end of that 2nd clip reminded me of Kreator  I don't know if it's my internet or the clips, but they just kept cutting in/out.

Weird, if I'm visiting the clips via the links, they play completely.

@Mike, now that you mention it... I was going for a sort of Dimmu Borgir meets Metallica-vibe, but yeah, post-Coma of Souls Kreator, I can see that.

Played fine for me. Nice clean and the distortion sounded good but not quite as good as some of your other recents. There is some some boominess in the lows, can you dial it out with the EQ or does that create another issue?

I agree and it's quite a balance game between too fat/boomy and anemic, when playing on loud bedroom levels.
When I bought it, I was able to test it on stage volume and that's where the magic shows and the boominess takes a backseat.
One thing though -which you may have picked up-, while the boominess is quite apparent in the riffing, I find that during leads it actually supports the girth of the tone with singing qualities, but at the expense of low-end clarity perhaps.

I'll try to do a less boomy one.

@Spiderwars,
here's another take, with channel EQ's bass on 0!
Gain 9/10, Treble 8.5/10, Mid 2/10, Bass 0/10, Presence 2/10.
And I've lowered the GEQ's 240Hz's slider a tad too.

But as you'll hear, still quite boomy without the TSMini boosting it.

I'm constantly fighting to get rid of the boom with this amp in rhythm playing and it doesn't really do the awesome in-between Marshally tones that my Savage can rock, but...the cleans are gorgeous and the leads sound thick and chewy. Oh well... :aww:

That's def less boomy.

Other than Presence @ 2 this is pretty much my starting point for dialing in a Mark series amp. I always start off with Bass no higher than 0. Just yesterday I broke out an old Komet-inspired build that I never liked. It has the Bass/Mid/Treble before the OD, just like any Mark-based Mesa. But I dialed it in similar to above and it actually sounds decent. I hope to make a clip (so I can sell it) later today.

I really like the tone and the playing - thanks for sharing.

played fine for me and i'm on a cheap laptop as well.
