Some modification ideas for my 6505+

I've been thinking for a while about modding my 6505+. Not internally (although i do plan on getting deluxe and/or platinum mod from voodoo, so feel free to give your opinion on that idea :)) but externally, cosmetically. I don't want to change any of big stuff, just probably the faceplate. I know their have been a couple of other threads out there, such as a few on Harmony Central and one or two on Seven String, but they really did not have what I was looking for. I have had my 6505+ for a while now, and have decided that I love it too much to continue to let it be extremely boring looking on stage. I plan on changing the grill and faceplate on the amp. The grill I am still thinking about, might make it a different color, idk, so feel free to give your suggestions on the grill. My idea was to have black chrome, with the peavey logo and made in america and 6505+ logo still on their, but etched through the chrome, so that you can only see it when the LED's are on, and they shine through it, as well as my band's logo. Maybe some LED's just in front of the black chrome faceplate between the grill (not sure if this is possible, idk how much room is there), facing up and just kind of accentuating the black chrome. Possibly with a switch to change the color of that LED in between songs, for different feels, but that might just be a little excessive ;). Anyways, my question is, first off, how damn cool would that black chrome faceplate be, right? Secondly, where would I go about getting this sort of metalwork done. Thirdly, how expensive would it be? Fourthly (is that a word?), how challenging would it be to install this? Fifthly, is there any kind of risk to my amp's tone whatsoever (pretty sure not, but I thought I'd ask, just incase). And also, how would I get power to the LED's, would I take from the amp's power, or have to plug in two lugs every time? and would this drain my amp's max volume if I sapped out of it's power? Etc... Let me know what you think, and sorry for using up approximately all 60,000 allowed characters. Btw, currently I have very little money, but I could acquire some if I needed in a month or two. Thanks! I realize I have posted this twice by accuser, so please respond to this one, an not the older thread.

You might as well buy a 2nd 6505+ for the price of the Voodoo Platinum mod. Not worth it.

I don't know but am pretty sure I've seen LED mods on the original series before. Hopefully someone will be along with a bit of experience on it. Good luck. 8)

I believe FJA has done LED mods before... some purple LEDs behind the grill would look awesome. Man, RT is all about some modded 5150s lately!

I will definitely go check out FJA, I hadn't heard of them doing that before but I will go check it out. And actually, purple is my favorite color and one of the colors I was considering. That or blue or orange. An yeah, I've seen probably 10 posts in the past few days about modding or modded 6505s and 5150s.

i put a piece of polished stainless on the faceplate. just cut it to fit and drilled holes to match the logos. It was a pain taking all the staples out of the faceplate though... Looked really sharp. BTW, it does help to work in a machine shop.

Yeah, I personally would not survive an attempt to cut a piece of metal. I am not skilled with tools, but I'm sure I could find someone who was. Does anyone know how I would install LEDs?

:D

Runs off of the amp's supply. No batteries. I wanted something subtle.

Thanks for the pic dude, that's pretty awesome looking. I personally have no idea of the inner workings of the amp's supply, but I am sure that someone I know does, so they could probably install it. Thanks!
