Some of the best Yngwie phrasing I have ever heard.

...nobody on this planet that i know of can execute and have complete command on a strat through old cranked up Marshalls like YJM and play with all that conviction. Pure attitude .

Amen!

Soldier Without Faith. Far Beyond The Sun, Brothers, Icarus Suite, Marching Out, Since You've Been Gone.
Just a few examples of the amazing phrasing Yngwie is capable of.
I always laugh when I read people saying things like Yngwie just plays the same thing over and over. Pure ignorance.
Yngwie has played some of the most amazing and emotional things ever recorded. If someone doesn't think so, that's fine. Blanket, ignorant statements are blanket ignorant statements.
I've heard people say BB King sucks too. Go figure.

Spot on!!

I'm not into this style of music , but I like some shred mixed in on other styles in smaller doses.

But he has a really nice tone here, like you guys said, nice vibratos and bends, and there's no clunk clunk pick attack noise at the beginning of each note - nice and smooth.

And if you listen to some violin and cello, and even piano virtuoso pieces they include stuff like this.

And he is a virtuoso.

Can also play nice Blues when he wants to and probably lots of other stuff, but I like his tone here quite a bit.

I love Yngwie, one of my very first idols. Having said that, I much prefer the Yngwie of Alcatraz era to the Yngwie now. He used to slow down then, so when he played fast it was fast. This video is still pretty cool, but I miss the mid tempo runs that he used to do.

what he said. Alcatrazz era yngwie was my fave era for YJM.. when NPFRNR came out, he was hungry and on fire, yet still had to play for the song to some degree because of Graham Bonnets. I saw Alcatrazz 1983 or 84 in LA (Reseda) it was an eye opener.. They killed and Yngwie was blazing yet tasteful.. ( and obviously high as hell on cocaine)

this was a cool video and thanks for posting Scott.. Yngwie slays but I guess i have grown a bit tired of him. still love to listen to Alcatrazz and everything up through Trilogy

The toggle switch control completely sold me. That is some badass control.

The longer I'm a guitar player, though, the less I like the sound of any kind of shred on single coils.

The thing that always impressed me the most about Yngwie, though, was not only how amazing his playing was, but how much of a showman he was/is.
How many other guys can peel your face off with a guitar solo like that while running around the stage and rarely looking at the fretboard? Not many. Most cats have their eyes glued to what they are doing.

Technically he plays very good in this clip compared what he use to do these days. I remember when I first saw this clip, I was really stoked for the new album, which was Perpetual Flame but I was disappointed as usual when I heard it. It was just this song and Death Dealer that was okay IMO.

But it's rare to hear Yngwie play like this these days for sure.
