Been rocking this for the past week and a half or so:

It's really light and a lot of fun to play...really fast neck, the Painkiller slays and I dig it a lot to just grab for fast jams throughout the day.

Grabbed this to work out a riff really fast (they're in different tunings) and ended up playing her for over an hour. Nice fat neck and the Holydivers are just great for metal on a 5153. It's easy to forget how comfortable LPs are for me....it's got a great top carve and that part of the top right above the bridge is perfect to rest my hand on for palm mutes.

So since it's Saturday and we haven't had a LP pic thread in at least 3 days, throw em up!

I picked this up around a week and a half ago, and I am very, very happy with this les paul. that's what the thread is right? anyhow, I must have played around 50 over the last month and a half, searching CL, and driving all over the bay area. I was not looking for the 50s neck, and this guitar was near another I was looking at in a far away land. so I stopped, started playing it, and within 30 seconds told him I would take it. it sounds so good, total clarity when high gain is involved, retains all definition, action is incredible, and the thing must weigh in at about 12 pounds. I have owned some les pauls in the past, but I don't remember any this heavy. it is just a pleasure to play. I plug in to the ccv, and the next thing I know, 3 or 4 hours has flown by.it already sounds magnificent, but I am ordering some motor citys for it, I can only imagine the tonal heaven. right now it has a 57 in the neck and a wolftone dr vintage in the bridge. both sound good, but I need a tiny more aggressiveness and I think mcp can provide.

Nice dude! I dig the top. Standard? Probably not chambered if it's 12lbs. What year?

These are the only photos I could find on [this] computer... I'll post a few of my 57'Black Beauty triple pup.

Ta, there really is something about a good Lester

Steinmetzify, that looks rad! Black hardware with black binding.. awesome!

mooncobra, super classy!

Ventura, love goldtops! Lemonburst is beautiful!

Not an actual 10+ pound LP but close enough for me.

Easy on the back for gigs.

Thanks man! The GT PRS is sick too...I love those.

Mo that GT and Custom are righteous. What's the flame? R9?

Love the look and sound of an LP, but I don't find them comfortable to play. I'll probably try owning one again some day in the future.

Love me some LPs! I had a PRS Singlecut for a number of years but ditched it for another Silverburst. Never really bonded with the PRS (but it played and sounded great). Something about a LP Custom. They're just awesome. I have Holy divers in one and Black Dogs in the other.

I tried an R9 at one point. Beautiful guitar. But didn't sound as good as my Customs, so I returned it.

Yep, the lemonburst is an R9 "Collectors Choice" Yamano select guitar. I have to get it in the proper light, the flame is 3" deep on it - crazy looking top wood. Beautiful. Lightest Lester I own too - by about 3oz under my '57 Goldtop.

The '68 Custom is heavy as hell, nearly 13 lbs.

Grass is green and the sky is blue and Gibson Les Paul's sound killer.
No kidding captain obvious. ;)

Heh. Mine isn't a Gibson.

Nice Reza! That's the one that made me want a GT!

I have two LP's. I 've been into them big time since March 2012 when I landed my first one ever, been playing them pretty much 95% of the time since I got that one.

Some killer looking LP's in here. Forty-six & Two, every time I see that R9 that you sold I get so jealous :D

Wish I was looking for an LP around that time as it's one of the most beautiful I've ever seen. Killer BB's in here and nice Yamano Mo!

Here's my humble attempt at a refinish. You guys have seen it; hope you like it. Excuse the kitchen too as it's the best light source in my apartment.

The yellow stain is to matched that replaced binding on the Low E side from the 12th fret up.

Last pic is after the finish cured.

I had yet to find a LP that I could bond with but just got this 2013 Traditional last week and must admit that it's pretty sharp. Really liked the idea of the 2013's not being weight relieved and that they have some of my favorite pickups in them. Gigged with it last night and it took some getting used to considering that I always use the nimble Music Man Axis, but I could definitely see myself bonding with this thing.

With as good as it looked, I wouldn't have cared

Then again the new 13' Lester's look phenomenal.

Well I got it at Mark's Guitar Loft. Check his site for inventory, he seems to get his hands on some of the better looking LPs.

Whats crazy is this month I have sold my fender, and sg, an esp nt-7, an amp and cab, some pedals, a road case. almost all my guitars. the only thing I am playing right now is my Goldtop. I have a frankenstrat I kept for strat/floyd action but all my time is going into a Les Paul. I don't think Im going to look back either. Now all I have to do is find a Custom thats not weight relieved and I will be set for the next era of guitar in my life. Sometimes you have to let go of the ones that you can't grow with.

Dude, right there with ya.....I have the GT and that weird strat, and the only guitar I'm really jonesing for is a birth year (74) LPC in black. Don't really need it, but I want one and that's the only thing that's popped up on my radar lately.

You have to go with guitars that are comfortable for you and give you the tone you want.
I messed around with all kinds of stuff over the years only to sell all of it in the last few years and go ALL Fender Stratocaster. Every one I pick up is familiar and does what I want it to. The knobs are in all the same places. I get up on stage and never have to think about the guitar. When I was swapping between an Ibanez, Les Paul Custom, Telecaster and Stratocaster it was a distraction on stage. I'm much happier now.
