I've seen the tremolno, and I've heard it works great. I think I'd just rather a massive brass block though. Would 42mm be big enough to ensure my floyd is dive only?

The main reasons I want to do this are the fact that it's got Sperzel locking tuners, but not locking nut. Which I actually like for ease of stringing, and tuning once I block the trem. Also, because I never pull up anyways and my EBMM 25th Anniversary has a brass block on that trem and that guitar just sings!

You will get differing answers, some like the result of a bigger block over the tremol-no, some don't.

I am not familiar with the EBMM's trem cavity, but chances are that even with the larger brass block, you will still have some wiggle room on pulling up. Flat shims made of hardwood, usually do the trick. Some people also prefer metal to shim the little gap, but I personally prefer wood.

So big block + metal or wood to fill the gap, or just straight wood to fill the whole gap? Or just a tremol-no would do the trick.

I always used wood shims. The kind usd for shimming doors, windows etc...

Cut with a utility knife and a dab of elmers glue and youre done

You don't have to fill up the whole gap. Just use a small block of wood, cut/sand it so the plate of the floyd is level to the body. Then glue it to the inside of the cavity, but do not use a glue that is super strong. You may want to reverse it later. Another trick is to use a small stack of picks. Again, the stack should be big enough to level the plate to the body and then tape it to the trem block.

I use the pick trick on several guitars that I put a D Tuna on.

wood, quarters, picks, plastic, pencils/erasers, batteries, electrical tape balls, and any combination wrapped in electrical tape

You can use anything.

Dimebag,

The brass block you keep referring to is something totally different than what the replies to your op are suggesting. The replies so far are examples of what they use to "block" the Floyd for dive only use. These items, once installed, are something for the metal(or brass) block to rest against, making it dive only.

Now the brass block that you've heard about is an upgrade you can do to your Floyd to increase sustain. Your Floyd already has a metal block, and you would replace that with a brass, copper, titanium, or tungsten block to increase sustain, but unless you "block" your new block (lol), you will still be able to pull up on it. Hope this helps.

You remember my cousin Ian? Im pretty sure he just got a tremolno for his ibby's and he loves it.

I ended up buying a 42mm Brass Block and a Floyd Trem Stopper (brass as well). I should have them this weekend
