Nice job they all sound great.
I like the chewiness of the JMP-1 best of all for what your playing.

All good but the 5150 was a clear 3rd place for me. The other two were close and very good.

VH4 was a little meaner. 5150 was sloppy and gritty and fizzy. JMP-1 was chewy. VH4 was my fav of the bunch.

I thought they sounded similar as well, and the JMP sounded the thickest.

Thanks for your thoughts guys.

I'm definitely loving the VH4 and JMP1 tones at the moment above the 5150.

The Jmp1 seems to be stronger in the upper mids whereas the vh4 covers off the lower mids more.
Both great amps.

I didn't expect the JMP1 and VH4 to be similar-ish... nice surprise there.

This is what i've been saying about my JMP-1 for years. Nobody believes me when i say it could keep up with my Diezel and Mesa no problem.

Kind of surprised the 5150 was so buzzy sounding on the mutes. You try boosting it to tighten it up?

I liked the JMP-1 best but the VH4 was good too. The VH4 is like my favorite amp to be in a room with

What power tubes have you got in the VH4?

Mine always sounded a bit sterile when I used it as a power amp...

Mate I've loved your Jmp-1 tone for over 10yrs now.
For me, the Jmp-1 sounds better than any of the newer marshall heads I've owned.

Obviously a lot of the pros out there are still using them for a reason

Usually the 5150 buzz gets killed a fair bit when you add bass into the mix.

I haven't tried a boost with it actually. I'm using low output pickups too so was surprised it was still so full on

This one came with JJ KT77's.

I really like them, don't plan on trying anything else for the time being :)

Yup just goes to show some people here are just parrots saying the same name brands that they love.

Try boosting it, depending on the boost you use you can get rid of a good amount of that buys and tame the bass a bit. I also found that you gotta really get some volume behind 5150s to get them sounding their best.
