Can anyone tell me the differences between the different Sovtek MIG models? I'm particularly interested in the MIG 100 and MIG 100H. How do they compare to Marshall 2203's? Can they sound as good?

100H is the high gain version. Loud as all hell. I believe these use 5881's stock? I can't be sure on that though.

I gigged with a Mig60 and Mig50H for years. The 60 has EL34's and the 50 has 5881's. Both very cool. I had Doug Roccaforte mod the 60 to JCM800 specs in the preamp way back in the early 2000's. He said it was one quick change of a resistor or something like that. I check ebay weekly for it to pop back up.

From what I understand the closest Mig to a Marshall is the Midget. The others are all sort of in between Marshall and Bassman.

Mig 60 is the one you want if you are looking for Marshall tones. Too bad the word seems to be out as they are no longer as cheap as they used to be....

Another option if you are looking for a cheap alternative is a Red Bear..found one(chassis only) for 160 a while back and sent it out to have an Aldrich-type mod done to it. Sounds very good and I only have 500 into it..they are similar to a JCM 800 circuit. Nick(dawnofdream97) did the mod for me..
