My RoV combo has the stock C90 in it and I find it to be a bit mushy, flat, and dark for the most part. What are some alternatives? Brand does not matter as long as it rocks when used with a Rectifier. I don't need anything with a high power rating coz the RoV is only 50 watts...

So, what's the best speaker to try out fellas?

The Warehouse guitar speaker vintage 30 clone is a great match with rectos. It handles 60 watts so you should be fine with it in the rectoverb.

I really like those speakers with my tremoverb. Nice fat and chunky.

So it's a V30 clone? How it the price in comparison? I like fat and chunky tone...

You could also consider the Hellatone 60L, which is an exercised V30 sold through Avatar Speakers. I got mine for something around $45 on ebay.

'exercised' V30? You mean a broken in V30? Sorry, i've not heard that term used...

Thanks fellas for the links!

The Hellatone 60L sounds nice but it's only available in 16 ohm. I bleeb my stock C90 is 8 ohms. I'll have to double check though.

The Veteran 30 sounds VERY nice for the price and the Retro 30 sounds even nicer for $20 more...

I'm still undecided at the moment... hmmmmm...

I have some 8 ohm Veteran 30's for sale $35 each plus shipping. They are basically brand new, I just replaced them with 16 ohm versions so I could run 2 cabs at once. Let me know if you want one of them.

Iv'e been reading up on the warehouse speakers on TGP. I remember when i first saw them i dismissed them as cheap clones but apparently a lot of people like them and actually prefer them to celestions, but at leas the V30 clone to the Veteran. mmmm..interesting.

What are the tonal characteristics of the c90? I have an 8ohm v30 id like to trade for something. Although id rather not ship it :(

I just bought a Veteran 30 from troublehead so i'll be trying that out before letting go of the C90...

I loaded that Avatar cab that I bought from you with two of the veteran 30's and I like it better than the other Avatar cab I have with a real celestions in it. I've been really pleased with them. I got them on the $21 deal promotion and figured I couldn't go wrong.

$21 for a Veteran is a smokin' deal! I didn't get that good of a deal, but it's cheap compared to a real Celestion nonetheless. I'm excited to get it installed this weekend!

I just installed the Veteran. It has a different texture to it than the C90, but I like it so far! It's more aggressive and is nice and chunky. The mids are sweeter than with the C90 and the highs have a nice chime to them. It feels less compressed than the C90 - more open somewhat. I had to turn my bass down a bit (from noon to 11:00) to avoid some woofiness, but it sounds great! I'll leave it in for a while and see how it does at a jam session coming up this weekend...

Sweet. The recto sounds great with vintage 30's and even warmer and chunkier to my ears with the veteran 30's. The Veterans tame some of that mid spike of V30's.
