I have had several Uber Kabs and have two front loaded ones. I'm pretty dialed in on how V30's & GT75's sound together and I like it.

I have an xtra Marshall cab I'm looking to put some speakers in and I was going to just order the V30 & GT75 combo but...

I wanted to know what I might expect sound wise from a V30 & G12k x pattern instead

To the best of my knowledge I have never played G12k' 100s before...

thanks...

Different cabinets will afford different chemistries between the drivers and so forth. Can't say the Marshall cab will give you what you'd expect if loaded with the same drivers as the Ubers. It may have to be that painful trial and error process (yuck!!). OTOH, maybe chat with Mr. Scumback, that lad knows his boxes and knows his tones - he's damn good!!

I've had experience with the UberKab, I've had experience with V30's, GT75's, G12K's. They're all vastly different. The GT and V30 combo in the UberKab is righteously bitchin'. The G12K100's I have in a FL 4x12 are probably the most "linear" speakers I've heard - they're very good as reference speakers, no bright spots, no dull spots, just perfectly linear, at least in my humblest of opines, and ears :D They also deliver in spades when the volume gets cracked - they're thunderous but focused. I think overall, one can EQ the shit out of them to satisfy your tonequest, whereas the V30's need to be EQ'd to remove the mid spike if it's not wanted (but at the end of the day, one thing I will ALWAYS give V30's is that they CUT like razors!!). Your call.

Sensitivity wise:
V30 = 100dB
GT = 97dB
GK = 99dB

Looking at it from a volume equality point of view, if you MUST combine "something" with a V30, it'd be the G12K100 due to their related sensitivities. 3dB is considered almost 2x the output of SPL power for power, so bear this in mind :thumbsup:

I think its very dependent on the amp that you use with them. I have some that love V30s and others not so much. My favorite speaker these days is the M75. It sounds dark in the Rivera shootout but that hasn't been my experience in a CAA 2x12 with a 1959 and a Marsha...very well balanced for the classic hard rock/metal tones that I typically go for. Sounds great clean as well.

Why not V30's with MC90's or Celestion 65's? I personally can't stand those G12100's and i avoid 75's like the plague. :D

I really am not up on MC90's... I had a cab with 65's along time ago and at that time in my tone quest did not like it at all for some reason...
