I finally got an A/B pedal. Since I have a few amps with identical circuits, I got them dialed in identical so I could A/B my G12-H30/V30 cab vs this beat up Weber cab with Weber Legacys (Basically original Scumbacks before Scumback started making in house). I them did an A/B with my Bogner OS 2x12 with newer black frame Scumbacks. I want to push my Mojo Celestion cabinet out the window. Not even close. Doesn't matter the amp. Eye opening really

In both the Weber and Bogner, I am mixing.
J55-LD bottoms and J75 top - Weber
J75 left and H75-LD right - Bogner

I used to swear my Vintage 30 back in the day.

I see a lot of guys that dont give speakers enough credit for their tone. I have a V30 in my KSR cab mixed with a creamback 75. I really like it but I would love to experiment.

What AB pedal did you get and did you mean to post a video or clip or something? I feel like I'm missing part of the picture :D

No vid, just info and observations. While lazy, I am even more cheap and just built a single op amp buffered pedal. It can be used as an A/B pedal or loop pedal.

This makes me sad. I use a Bogner OS2x12 with a v30/h75 combo.
Now I’m concerned that my amps can sound better.
Thanks.

I guess it's all presonal preference. The best I can describe is more springiness, more bottom, and less harsh

There is always a difference. I think of the speaker like a final EQ, regarding the last thing that alters what you hear out of your signal chain.

These days I have eight or nine cabs, British Celestions and some webers. Most of my cabs are midrange though nothing over the top. Mostly Orange, Mesa, Avatar, MOJO. Nothing crazy. But I do move cabs around as well as speakers in cabs.

Do you know where to find a frequency response graph or some quantitative tech specs for Webers?

No, the graphs that Celestion provide a are based on their testing enclosure. Since ever enclosure affect the Thiele/Small parameters, frequency response and associated impednace, a graph will be of less value than the descriptions. Head over to the Scumback website to get an idea of magnets, cone and coil affects on tone

When I started playing again and buying gear in 2005,I bought cheaper, less expensive gear. Was not sure I was gonna dig playing again that much.

By 2008 I was stepping up my gear game. But spending over $1200 on a used amp or $2.5K on a custom build guitar was a big step. But I got a hold of some cool stuff at great prices used. The biggest major game changer was the herbert(killer local deal)and the ultralead. At that point I "got it".

As far as cabs go,I replaced some cheap-ish Randall cabs with some used Marshall straights loaded with broken in V30s. But once I got a VHT and a Cameron cab,I once again "got it". And it's not like the Marshalls don't kick ass. I just realized the major factors of good cabs and different speakers play into the big picture.

But I don't obsess with trying every speaker combination. I finally just realized I have everything I could ever want, and it has to be something special before I will think of buying gear anymore. And a special thanks to scottosan for making one of those dream pieces happen for me.

If you are about to invest big cash into a great amp, you HAVE to research the best speaker/cab combo to get the most out of your rig. Just some random cab with random speakers won't do it. Years back I bought a Mesa standard (with the armor plating lol) and matched that up with an 85 2204. Ugh, not a good combo on any level. Finally grabbed a 79 Marshall cab with 65s, and that was tonal heaven to me. Eventually I found out why Mesa uses V30s when I found a 2C...Mesas and V30s just go together. These forums are a great source of info for anyone who needs gear advice; before you sell your great amp because it doesn't sound as great as you thought, do a search on what speakers/cabs are recommended. You may find out it IS the amp you hoped it would be with the right cab/speakers.

I am happy with my cabs at the moment. That doesn't mean it won't be the next rabbit hole I will go diving into. Lol. I am a good rabbit hole diver.

I started budget and just slowly went up. For me it was gibsons, ibanez prestiges, a splawn and a Tremoverb that I got the first taste of the good life. Lol. That was about 8 years ago. I am always moving forward.
