I usually run my mesa 412 halfback cab with both sections closed with my mesa mark IVA. I just bought some Mesa eminence MS12s to try again (thanks pfapin05), so I am looking for recommendations on the best speaker compliment, or at least the first one to try. I am currently running MC90's on top and EV EVM-12Ls on the bottom. Mine is the slant version, on castors.

In general I have found that cleans are better with the top open, but playing with gain, its better to have both sections closed.

I have an opened back 212, that I will put the extra 2 speakers.

Thanks for those that have voted so far. Bump for some more votes. :)

For now I ended up putting the MS12s in my 212, which currently is opened back, not sure if I am going to put the full back panel or not. Its nice to hear these speakers alone, to see what they are really like. To my ears they have a really nice bass, good low mids, and rolled off highs. They are not as smooth as an MC90 or WGS ET-65, but they are pretty thick sounding and work great for leads. I really like how they work with gain.

Still not sure where they will finally end up, but I am enjoying the experimenting.
