Does anyone know the brand and model of transformer for the Splawn Nitro?

I guess the brand is Heyboer, but whats the model and price?

I just was wondering if I could "nitro" mod my JCA100H..

I think it sounds fine, but I love me some nitro.....

I thought about getting the Digitech Hardwire Tube Overdrive pedal to get a closer sound without modding...

I guess I will just experiment with different pedals..

Everyone tells me the OCD is one of the best..

I guess if I want a Nitro sound, I will have to get a Nitro..

i guess you're asking if you got the nitros tranny, maybe it would sound like a nitro? no. as far as boosting, just go buy a boss sd-1 for like 30$ and experiment.
are you trying to get more saturation out of your jet city?

Before you drop coin on an OCD (and they are nice) check out the Danelectro Overdrive. Very similar. And cheap. You might also consider the Bloody Murder OD from our resident maker Joe.

How much does one of those Bloody Murders cost? Any clips?

I paid $120 direct to Joe (if I remember right...). I don't have any clips but there are several on youtube.

a regular marshall type 100w heyboer output transformer is around $90
you'll be fine with a magnetic components transformer
they're about $50 and used by brands like Mesa, Granger, Two Rock and others

you need a severe circuit mod to get the nitro sound
I don't have a schematic for it, but I do have the quickrod schematic, which is probably very close

assuming the JCA is wired like a SLO, you gotta have to move the loop out of the gain circuit and place it after the EQ, like most amps, remove the cathode follower before the EQ section
for some reason, the master volume is placed right before the EQ, but I'm not sure how that affects the EQ response
then you remove the bright cap from the gain pot and rewire the third gain stage cold clipped cathode as 2k7 resistor paralleled with a 1u capacitor, instead of a 39k resistor
there are other smaller differences in less critical points, but that should be enough to get you in the Splawn ballpark
so main tips are: removing the cathode follower and hot rodding the third gain stage
what to expect: grainier and more dense mids, tighter low end, better response in lower volumes, less open tone
I wouldn't even bother about the transformers, unless the stock ones are really shitty

No, the stock transformers are pretty good from what I've been told..

What your talking about is above my head, so I'm gonna leave it alone for now..

I may email Scott Splawn to see if he might mod it or "nitro" it up..

A switch that Splawns it when on and remains stock when off would be real cool..

I wish he made a "nitro" pedal......

i don't get it... sell it. buy a nitro. you're not going to get that amp to sound like a nitro.. just boost it and enjoy it.

I'm not going to sell it.. I DO like it as it is.. I like the sound of the Nitro as well.. I guess experimenting with pedals is what I need to do.. Even an expensive pedal is cheaper than shipping of to be modded..

Scott will never mod a JCA to sound like a Nitro...it's just aint gonna happen. Matter of fact he does not do mods anymore anyways

how old are you anyways? you sound like a youngster

I am 40, but a youngster at heart.. I was unaware that he no longer did mods..

I need to just shut my pie hole and enjoy the amp I have..

I'll just save my pennies and buy a Nitro in December of 2012 right before the Earth implodes....

find a local tech
the mods I suggested are mostly simple rewiring and just a couple 10 cents component swap
you won't need an amp guru for that
